Lorna & Phil
The dude was one of the friendly ones, which for most people that would be great. With Lorna that only put her more on alert. People were never nice or friendly without it being for a reason, and it was her way of thinking that kept her alive for as long as it had. Expecting the bad and you’d never be surprised when it came. “So you’re one of the more long-time residents around this place?”
Five years? Lorna couldn’t imagine being here for that long or she could if Marcos was here. The idea of the man missing all that time with their kid, especially with his past, she couldn’t allow herself to think that way right now. “What’s the final verdict on long you’ve been here? Cause I’m pretty sure you just hit each possible answer.”
“Nice to meet you, Phil. I’m Lorna Dane,” she replied with a small nod. “You always show up here or is this one of the many places you hit?” Lorna had heard about some of the other Thanksgiving things going around, and maybe this guy was a party crasher to them all or something, then again five years? He probably had an invite to them all.
