Who: Rose, Eddie, and Mason What: The big revelation. Also super sad. Where: Rose's place When: Saturday Status: Closed; Incomplete
After her discussion with Eddie, but even before then, Rose knew that it was only a matter of time before she had to tell Mason the truth. This was a far heavier truth than telling him that she'd considered him more like a friend than a boyfriend. She and Eddie were going to tell Mason he was dead back home. They were going to tell him how it happened. It would be...difficult to say the least. Rose knew it would be far more difficult, far more harsh and painful for Mason than it would be for either Eddie or herself. Though it would never leave them, they had come to terms with Mason's death and managed to move forward with their lives. Mason would be hearing it all for the first time and it would be a devastating blow for sure.
Oh, she knew it would be painful for herself and for Eddie too. They would be reliving those moments all over again. Eddie would be wrapped up in his guilt for not being able to do anything and Rose...Rose would follow suit. She would feel the weight of watching Mason charge in to save her, to save the women he loved, and Rose knowing that was exactly why he'd come back. Because it was her and he'd loved her forever it seemed. Rose hadn't felt the same, but she did care about Mason very much and losing him? Watching him die? His neck snapped like a twig before her eyes? Yes, Rose would never forget that moment for the rest of her life. Or seeing Mason as a ghost, always sad, always haunted even in the final moments he'd been with her. Could they do this?
Seated around her living room, Rose settled on the couch herself, she looked between Eddie and Mason and found herself speechless. How did you tell someone they died? How did you even begin to speak about it? Part of her wanted to let Mason speak first, about his guardian questions, but she wasn't sure if that was a good idea. Maybe it was best to simply rip the band-aid off the wound so to speak? Rose reached for her bottle of water and took a sip. Well, it had to start somewhere even if she had no idea where. "So, Eddie...Eddie and I have something we wanted to talk to you about Mason," Rose started. "Something we should have told you sooner, but we just didn't exactly know how to."
