Lucas was fully aware of how not good all of this was. He probably should have said something sooner, absolutely should have, but Riley had asked him to keep it quiet and so he had. There wasn't any point in worrying other people, he supposed, but he did feel better now that his dad knew.
"Not 100% sure," he admitted, "but mostly sure. I mean, she would know, right? That something was different?" Lucas didn't really give his dad a chance to answer that one before he rambled on. "Riley said she got a pregnancy test to know for sure but I don't think she's ready to take the test. I'm not sure I'm ready for her to take the test either, but I know I can't make her do it before she's ready. I just- I can't."
Lucas looked up at his dad again, just sort of lost and torn. "What if it's Barbie? I know I'm not ready to be a dad but I want her to be my kid. Mine and Riley's kid." As if he'd have a kid with anyone else, but still. For as much as he'd been a little terrified of the little girl who'd surprised them last year, he wanted her to be in his future with Riley.
