Who: Trish and Lorna When: October 11, nighttime Where: A park What: Practicing Superpowers Warnings: TBD Status: Closed/In-Progress
Trish wasn't entirely sure why she waited until it was dark and went to a secluded area in a park before practicing her powers. She didn't feel entirely safe there, although it wasn't that late at night, but it had felt worth it for the privacy. From what she'd heard, there were people with all sorts of powers here, so she wasn't sure why she felt the need to keep it a secret. Maybe because she wasn't even entirely sure yet that they really were powers, and not just some weird trick accident.
Enhanced reflexes. That was what it had seemed like, when she had dropped her phone and caught it on her foot. Her foot had moved faster than she could have imagined, and no normal person could have made a catch like that. It had been a feeling she hadn't had before as well; not so much one of time slowing down, but of having all the time in the world. She wanted to recapture that.
But she wasn't sure how, and maybe that was another reason why she wanted privacy. She wasn't sure how much of a fool she was going to look like, and Trish didn't like looking like a fool.
Since she knew it had been the trigger before, Trish started by trying to catch various falling objects. Each time, as long as the object was moving quickly enough, her body reacted almost before she had time to think about it, and she caught with whatever body part was available. She began trying multiple objects, even beginning to juggle, which she had never been able to do before. She found herself smiling. It was really true. It wasn't just Jess anymore. She had powers too. And maybe with her powers, she could become a real superhero. The type she knew Jess could be, if she only wanted to.
Although she was originally very aware of her surroundings, as she practiced her focus began to narrow in, and she didn't notice that she wasn't alone anymore.
