WHO Hiccup Haddock & Erik Lehnsherr (+ Aurie) WHAT Having lunch WHEN Saturday afternoon (backdated) WHERE Charles' old house WARNINGS TBD, probably none STATUS Closed | Incomplete
Hiccup couldn't quite bring himself to stop visiting Erik. They'd settled into a somewhat forced rhythm of weekly lunches and he always brought something new for them to try. Staying in touch with Nina's father was a way of keeping the little girl's memory alive for Hiccup and he hoped that the same was true for the other man. Which day of the week they had lunch varied from time to time but this week he was glad he'd planned for it to be Saturday after the news that Octavia had been sent home. She'd been the one to go after Erik when they'd first discovered Nina and Charles missing and with her daughter, Aurie, in hand.
By now, Hiccup knew well Erik's penchant for not reading the network. It was very likely he'd never answer anything unless it was solely and privately addressed to him or else shared in person, so he'd reached out and they'd had a decent conversation given the topic. He didn't know how to tell Erik that he tried so hard as a way to repay the kindness Nina had shown him when he hadn't understood any bit of English. They'd bonded over a love of animals and it was because of her that he'd ended up working at the animal shelter. Hiccup knew he couldn't just let Erik hide away from everyone. Losing someone was hard, but it wasn't the end of things. It couldn't be.
He arrived with two bbq chicken sandwiches from Hinkles and a meal he'd been assured was perfect for a child of Aurie's age. Hiccup had definitely needed some help there because he didn't have the first clue about children. Right at 1pm, he knocked on Erik's door and waited to be let in.
