"There's always another choice," he said simply. "I don't expect you to die or let yourself be killed, but using magic to solve all your problems will lead you into a pit you can't escape." Harry killed people too, not just Susan.. and it had been cold blooded, calculating, straight up murder. He hated it. "I don't think you're a monster," he said evenly, suspecting it was important for Kvothe to hear. "I think you're young and in need of guidance, and you've had to make some hard choices at a young age, and I'm going to give you the tools to survive those hard choices in the future if I can."
And he would. And he'd do a better job than he did with Molly, hopefully. Otherwise this kid was screwed beyond measure. Harry frowned.
"You don't get a say in this, but I'm telling you because it's important for you to know, I want you to keep working with your Sponsor. I'll have a chat with him about your skills and we're going to keep him as involved as he wants to be. Because I think I just stole you from your mentor and I'm not sure about regulations on apprentices and shit. I've only had one and it was conditional."
