It was tense in town, had been for a while now. That was why she was glad she lived on the outskirts -- close enough to get there if anything happened, but just far enough away that most of the excitement wasn't swirling about her. It was also far enough away to provide a certain handy excuse at times. Like now. She didn't know when, but she knew that a certain lovely deputy would be coming by to check up on her.
Sif -- a nickname earned from her late husband, and one that she would forever keep -- knew that there was a lot going on in town, that she might not even see Alex for a few days, but she was allowed to hope. Because while she could stop to talk to the other woman in town with nothing amiss, their conversations when Alex came by were a bit more... personal.
She hadn't for a moment imagined caring about anyone again after her husband and children had died in the accident four years earlier, but she had indeed come to care -- and care a great deal. But she was pulled from her thoughts by a knock at the door before she could sink any deeper into thoughts and memories. Curious, she went to answer the door, breaking into a smile when she opened it.
