"Hadn't for the longest time," he admitted easily. "But after I lost my hand, it took a while to get back out in the fields." It was clearly a Rogers' trait to be so disarming. Either that, or spending time with Steve and deepening his relationship with his wife was making him a little more willing to open up to people. It was a dangerous thing all around and he was really going to have to be more careful.
"There's no need," he added of her apology. "I know well what my reputation is in town." Bucky had done a good job cultivating it over the years and it was clear from the fact that they didn't know one another even after living in the same small community for years that he was as anti-social as it got. "Kate brings in good money though, so I can afford to take the break when the work really dries up without it hurting us. It might be unconventional, but it works for us."
