Owen checked the contents of his saddle bag before heading out to meet with Black Feather. He met with the local Ojibwe woman regularly. She provided him with an Indian medicine compound that helped keep Andy stable and able to work, which was important to Owen for a number of reasons.
He led his horse to the water's edge where the animal could drink while Owen conducted his business. He dismounted and flung the reigns over a tree branch to prevent the horse wandering off. Slinging his bag on his shoulder, he walked over to Black Feather and greeted her with the customary greeting of her people.
