Working at the clinic had been both a wonderful gift and an anxiety nightmare. While she enjoyed doing what she studied and trained to do her whole life, there remained the constant fear of losing control. Of becoming Killer Frost. Much of this fear was alleviated because she knew Barry was here and if needed, if anything happened, he could stop Killer Frost from hurting anyone in Madison Valley. Yes, there was the possibility he could bring her back from it too. He had brought her back from that dark place before just as Cisco had done on the battle field with Savitar. Her friends could reach her and bring Caitlin Snow back to life so to speak. All of this helped Caitlin tremendously, especially when it came to functioning in life or at least trying to function.
Her Saturday morning at the clinic started out like every morning did. Fresh coffee was brewing by the time she arrived, probably made by Liz or someone else, and there were already a few patients sitting in the waiting room. For a change, Caitlin herself felt pretty good despite how so many people were going home lately from Madison Valley. So far, there had not been anyone Caitlin knew or knew well and it had not phased her. Barry was still here and to her that was the most important one. She treated patients through out the morning before heading for a short break around eleven or so. Like normal, she sent a message out to Barry to see how he was. Well, she'd been doing it more than normal because of all the people leaving, but mostly it was normal and maybe they could have dinner and catch up on the week's events.
The message bounced back.
No. No. No, this can't be happening. Panic and fear started to well up within Caitlin and she frantically checked the network for any sign of her friend. Nothing. No mention of Barry, no sign of Barry. She called him. She messaged twice more, but they all bounced back. No. Barry-Barry can't be gone. I just-I just can't handle that. I can't. Then she felt it. That creep up her spine, the wave of something else, someone else washing over her and the smokey ice coming off her increasingly pale, now white, skin. "No-No please not here. No-" The words were a whisper, a plea that no one could hear and even if they could? There was nothing they could do. Caitlin tried with everything she had to push Killer Frost down, back into the hole she so desperately wanted to crawl out of, but it was too late. Her hair shifted to stark white, like snow, and her eyes deepened to blue, and her pain, her fear, became anger and a haze of cold, evil thoughts.
Someone called her, that annoying brunette with the healing abilities, and Killer Frost's head snapped up, and a smirk slowly spread across her face. "Caitlin's not in right now. If I have my way, I'll make sure she takes a permanent vacation," she replied coldly.
