WHO: Corso Riggs and Raven Reyes WHEN: Wednesday WHERE: Outside Dicky’s Doghouse WHAT: Chatting about space things! WARNINGS: Maybe some language? STATUS: In-Progress/Match-Up (TBC in comments)
Corso was used to hard work. It didn’t always pay off, but it paid bills and kept people out of trouble. At least he didn’t have to worry about the latter while he was here. What he did have to worry about were those pesky bills, keeping up his daily living, and now he’d have to make plans to take Susan Turner to dinner.
All things that would require money, which he’d finally end up having more of with the job he had obtained. Dicky’s Doghouse was an interesting name for a repair service, but Corso didn’t question it. He was sure there were some oddly-named places back home that folks wouldn’t get.
Exiting the building, Corso folded the small book of paperwork in half and nodded. This would prove interesting among anything else. He felt good about it, though. Good until he went to go on his way and collided with a young lady.
“Oh! Damn. Sorry, ma’am. You alright? Sorry. Again. Head was up in the clouds, I guess.”
---
The truth was, Raven wasn't exactly paying attention either. She had a goal today. It was to seek out some materials for starting the work on new additions to the house. Sometimes the auto repair places had old scraps she liked to check out now and then. She really could turn most anything into something useful.
She didn't think she had the "pregnancy brain" just yet. Was it too early for that? Either way, she wasn't paying attention and a collision occurred. Yeah, her first instinct was to worry about the baby, but she was sure everything was fine. She didn't even fall or anything.
"Oh, I'm sorry, too! I guess I wasn't paying much attention, either," she said a bit sheepishly. "But I'm fine. No harm done."
Thankfully.

“You sure? Can I get you some water or something?” It was an odd question, but it didn’t seem like she had any wounds that needed to be treated. Still, Corso felt terrible for just running into her like he had.
“Were you heading inside? Do you need help with anything?” It was the least he could do after all. Offer to help her find something, pick something out, or just make sure she could take care of everything. The young woman looked like she could, but Corso didn’t want to ever assume.

"No, no, I'm fine. Really," Raven said, giving the guy an assurring smile. "But thanks for your concern."
She appreciated that and his seeming compassion. That said a lot about him, even if she didn't know him at all. Yet.
"I was heading in, actually. I was going to check out some old scraps. I do that sometimes. I like to use them to build stuff."
It was as simple as that.
***
She had said the magic words.
“Oh yeah? What sort of stuff? Just anything or do you have plans that you go by?” There was a brief pause, Corso taking a complete interest in the topics at hand.
“I like to build stuff, too. I mean, I still build stuff. And work on things. I use to work on spaceships. And weapons. And robots. And a lot of things. I mean, I did other work, but that was my specialty.”
Another pause and Corso beamed quite proudly.
“Got to fly in a nice ship once, too.”

Well now, just for a little bit, Raven was thinking about something other than her changing life. She welcomed that. It was nice to think about things she seemed to have in common with this guy.
"Haven't flown in any ships, but I grew up on a space station," she explained. "I was a mechanic and got to go out in space to do repairs. There's nothing like space walking."
It was one of the few times she felt at peace.

"Well, damn! That had to have been exciting. I mean, I don't think I've ever walked around in space like that. Only flew around in it." Walking around in space whether working on something or not had to be a rather amazing experience. Corso had heard it was almost like flying or floating.
"Did you like living on the space station? Kind of like living in a house in space, right?"
