Daryl had settled into life in Madison Valley as well as Daryl settled into anything. He was edgy, hadn't entirely let his guard down. There were no walkers here, but there were people who weren't exactly people. Werewolves and vampires, people from other worlds and planes of existence. And super heroes like in the comic books he used to steal and read when he was a kid.
But also Maggie and Carl and Judith, and Beth who was dead back home. He knew because he'd been the one to carry her out of that damn hospital. He'd been the one to lay her body in the ground. But here she was alive and well, and thriving. It didn't make much sense, but not much about Madison made much sense to Daryl.
That didn't mean he wasn't going to enjoy it while he could. He sat on the couch in the living room of the farm house, Judith snuggled in beside him, and some animated movie playing on the TV. Judith shoved off Daryl suddenly, without warning, and launched herself across the room to greet Wanda as she came in. Daryl glanced at her over his shoulder, and offered "Hey," in greeting.
