Who: Zari Tomaz and Amaar Rashid What: Praying at the end of the world Where: Community Center When: Friday Warning: Low Status: Closed/Ongoing
For most of her life, Zari's only Muslim community was her family and a few friends of the family. They had to pray in secret in a time when all religion was banned. Then she lost her family and had no community at all. Sure, she joined the Legends and considered them family, but none of them were Muslim. None of them understood that aspect of her life. They were supportive of her beliefs and never treated her differently because of them, but they couldn't fully understand.
It wasn't until she came here and met Amaar that she felt that sense of community again. Yes, it was just the two of them right now, but he was someone who did understand things the way she did. She wasn't quite as devout as he was, but she still observed many Muslim traditions.
Now, the hours were dwindling and the clock was getting closer to the end. It was at this quiet moment that she really felt the impact of everything. Not only was she going to lose this sense of Muslim community, she was going to lose a friend. Maybe, in some ways, that was even more tragic.
Still, being here in the final hours, kneeling on their mats and praying in the direction of Mecca, was exactly how she thought it should be.
She couldn't help taking a moment during quiet reflection to speak, though.
