Usually, all of the time really, Riley appreciated that Lucas was willing to take things as slowly as she liked. He'd never pressured her to be physical in any way, was a nice guy who checked in to make sure she was okay along the way if they were doing anything more than holding hands, and she appreciated that. After getting the stupid proposal thing swept away like it had never happened, it had definitely happened and definitely impacted a lot of things, she'd never been made to feel like she wasn't giving him enough.
But this was different. This was losing all those experiences and all the knowledge of how wonderful Lucas really was. And as excited as Riley was to go home and be with her family again, she was equally sad to lose such big parts of her life, things that had shaped her as a person. And she no longer saw a reason not to give Lucas exactly what she knew he wanted. She was just going to forget it when the clock hit zero in a few hours anyway.
So as gentle as he was, Riley met it with an intensity that was uncommon for her, shifting again as they kissed so that she could sit on her knees beside him, arms wrapping around his shoulders.
