This wasn't exactly how he wanted to spend more time with Riley, but he was glad that they at least knew it was coming. Lucas knew she didn't feel the same way, that she didn't want to go back to how things were, so he tried to distract her as best he could. That meant camping out in the backyard, complete with a campfire and as many s'mores as they had the makings for.
The quiet didn't really bother him. It reminded him of Texas, only it was way better because he had Riley. Everything was better with her. He wanted to enjoy they time they had left, so they sat together and he had his arm around her waist just to keep her close. Lucas wasn't expecting it to go beyond that, not after everything they'd been through, so he was very surprised when she turned to kiss him.
Lucas didn't hesitate to return the kiss, gentle like and certainly not pushing for anything more. He wasn't interested in rushing into things anymore.
