WHO Ella, Max & Kenny WHAT Getting attacked by demons WHEN yesterday WHERE around town WARNINGS death, language, demons STATUS closed & in progress
Like with most others, Kenny was more neutral towards demons. He had both good and bad experiences with them. Some were cool, like Llewellyn. Maybe there were other cool demons but he hadn't met any of them yet. But some were annoying, like the demons that tortured him in Hell.
Either way, he wasn't scared of the demons and hellhounds that were now running rampant in town. Really the worst they could do to him was torture and/or kill him. Which he'd been there, done that, he'd just come back. So he just casually strolled through town, not caring if he got attacked or not.
So far, he hadn't. Maybe the demons were busy? Either way, he hadn't run into any yet. But then he suddenly heard a loud scream and he went to go investigate. When he reached the source, he saw a couple demons advancing on who he recognized as the other Ella.
He wanted to help her but other than having a few throwing knives, he didn't really have anything to defend himself with. So he just decided to just go after them himself. Hey, maybe they'll kill him instead of Ella. Unlike him, she won't come back. So he just walked out in the open and greeted them. "Hey demons," he said. "Hey Ella."
***
Ella was mostly just minding her own business on a walk with Max when two great big nasty looking creatures came up to them. She hadn't been on the network in a few days, mostly because she was quite content living on the Pack land and spending time with her friends and chosen family. She hadn't been aware of any potential danger, so she didn't immediately think that the creatures were anything more than perhaps wild animals.
"We won't hurt you," she tried to reason with them, but one creature startled forward and it surprised her so much that she screamed as she tried to pull her son's stroller behind her. Ella felt very scared and very upset, but she did not think anyone would come to her rescue.
When she heard Kenny greet the creatures by calling them demons, her eyes widened. "Mr Kenny?" It was barely a whisper, as she was more shocked than anything else. The creatures' attention was solely on him though and they began to advance towards the newcomer. Ella was frozen in shock, unsure of what to do next and too nervous to look away.
***
Kenny just nodded at Ella, but when he noticed the stroller that he suddenly felt angry. He might've only spoken to her a couple times since he'd been in town, but he was aware that she had a young son. A young son that was in a lot of danger right now. "You brought your kid with you?! What the fuck is wrong with you? Didn't you know there were demons in town?" he yelled at her, completely ignoring the demons that were advancing on him.
He grumbled some more and shook his head. "Whatever, I'll hold them off. You just try and get you and your brat somewhere safe, okay?" Guess he could do the sacrifice himself to save someone thing again. He hadn't done that in awhile.
Except she didn't look like she was going to go anytime soon. She looked like she couldn't move at all. It didn't matter how many times he shouted at her to get moving, she just stood there. And as one of the demons grabbed him, he just shrugged. Oh well, guess she'll just have to watch him get ripped and torn apart and killed.
***
Ella just sort of gaped at him. How had he known about the demons? And using such foul language wasn't remotely proper in most situations but this was hardly the time for it! It was shocking to say the least, which only served to keep her rooted into place as the demons attacked Kenny.
And attack him they did. Ella shielded her son in her arms, the stroller abandoned for the moment as she tried to at least duck behind the dumpster of the alleyway she'd been passing by. She did her very best not to watch, but the sounds were worse without being able to see what was happening. It was truly terrible and she was too shocked to even cry. What on earth was happening?
***
Kenny just rolled his eyes at her. He figured quickly enough that she was shocked by the foul language and he couldn't help but wonder why she was more concerned about that. Seriously, they were just words and words didn't mean much right now. Not when he was about to die again. And Ella herself if she didn't get her and her son to a safer place.
He yelled at her again to go but it was too late. The demons didn't wait and they immediately jumped on him, digging their claws into his flesh. That hurt but he'd been through worse. Then it did get worse and now they were tearing and ripping him apart, quite literally. He fought back, trying to distract them as he saw Ella carry her son away. Once he figured they were hidden well enough, he just let himself get ripped apart more until he finally died.
He came back to life though he waited a bit before he moved again. When the demons seemed to have left, he slowly got up and made his way in the direction he saw Ella go. "Ella, you here?" he called out quietly. He glanced down at his shirt and made a face. He was all covered in blood and his clothes were torn. But any injuries he had had now disappeared.
***
Ella was absolutely horrified by what she'd seen, and she'd turned away when the demons started to literally tear her friend apart. Max miraculously kept quiet and Ella did her best to as well so that the demons didn't come after them once they were done with Kenny. She heard them run off and she was certain Kenny had just died to protect them, a realization that made her cry.
She was still crying, rather quietly, when she heard Kenny's voice. Surely she was imagining things and it only made her cry harder. Max had begun crying at some point as well, so they were both positively in a state when she finally caught sight of Kenny. "Oh!" she inhaled as a more of a gasp instead of screaming like she rather wanted to. She was hallucinating, clearly.
***
Hearing her sobs, Kenny was able to find her easily enough. He probably should've expected her to freak out but he had forgotten. People usually just shrug it off when he came back from death. They rarely, if ever, made a big deal out of it. People back home, though, they'd forget so it was no surprise that he didn't. But people here do remember but they didn't seem to care much.
It was a good thing she hadn't screamed or Kenny would've told her to shut up in less than colorful ways. But she had been crying loud enough that he had found her. It was lucky he got there first before a demon could. "Yeah, I'm back. But shush, do you want another demon to find us?"
***
Ella honestly did not understand what was happening. Kenny had died, had been murdered by those creatures right in front of her. "Mr Kenny? How-?" She was, at least, mindful of being quiet because she didn't want any demons finding them, not one bit. As if worried one or two would appear simply because he said their name, she peered around him to look at what she could of the street.
She looked back at him and then down at her son. "I wish to go home." To her little cottage, with Jesse, back to being safe and happy instead of terrified. "Please, Mr Kenny. Please help me go home." She wouldn't survive if she went on her own.
***
"Immortality. I just come back whenever I die," he quickly explained in a low quiet voice, shrugging casually. It was something that happened to him a lot, had been happening since he was around three, maybe sooner. He wasn't sure, but his earliest memory of dying and coming back was back in preschool.
He just glanced at her and nodded. "Yeah, sure, I'll make sure you get home safe. Where do you live?" he asked. Hopefully it wasn't too far.
***
That was very much not casual at all, but at least it was sort of familiar. Her family consisted of werewolves, so she wasn't entirely unaware of all the supernatural types in Madison. She just hadn't realized Kenny held that kind of power as well. Ella recalled the conversation about immortality, but she hadn't realized he still died. That just was traumatizing as far as she was concerned.
"Do you know where the Pack house is?" she asked quietly, her voice wavering ever so slightly even as she whispered. Ella was a bit too crazed at the moment to remember the way, but she would do her best if he didn't know the way. With so many gatherings at the Pack House, she was hopeful he would know how to get them there safely.
*** As long as she wasn't screaming or freaking out, Kenny didn't really care. Though it would've been the first time someone did and that would just be odd for him.
He paused for a moment. He couldn't remember if he'd ever gone to one of the gatherings at the Pack House. He'd been to quite a few that it was hard to remember which ones. But he was certain he might've gone to at least one, so he kind of knew where she lived.
"I think so," he replied. "I've only been there once, I think, so I kind of know where it is. But if I need directions, I'll just ask."
***
Ella nodded, glad that he knew the way. She knew he was unhappy with her and truthfully, she was unhappy with herself. She really did need to pay more attention to the network. For now, all she could do was trust Kenny to get her home safely.
Ella wiped her cheeks and repositioned Max in her arms. Luckily, she knew she wasn’t very far away from home so hopefully they would get there without issue. “I am ready,” she told him. She had a feeling he wouldn’t want to wait for her very much longer.
