Anna blinked when the guy actually poked the cow with a stick. People were really strange, and considering she was a vampire, that was saying something. She'd never really understood cow-tipping either, but whatever. She shook her head and started to move away from the fence when she heard him whirl around. She glanced at him, saw him reach for toward his pants. She got the distinct impression he would've shot her if he'd had a gun.
Nice.
She couldn't help but wonder, though, if he was talking to someone she couldn't see. A ghost? Maybe he wasn't crazy at all. Maybe he was like Jeremy, a medium, and he was talking to someone he knew, the way Jeremy had to her when she'd been a ghost back home. It was hard to say.
And then he spoke to her. "Hey," she responded cautiously, shifting her bags from one arm to the other.
