Jesse had settled in to life in Madison Valley. He still missed Benji. He missed Beca and everyone else from home, except Amy who was his room mate. He was glad she was here, at least one person from home. He didn't understand why Benji had been in town for such a short time, seemingly never to return. He would always hope his best friend would come back, but so far it didn't seem to be happening.
Oh well. At least Amy was here. And Jo. Jo wasn't someone he knew from home, though for all he knew they could be from the same world. There was no reason to think otherwise, really. it was just kind of odd because Jo was from way earlier in time than he was. Madison was weird that way, though. People came from different times and different places. With different realities and different species even. Jesse would never truly understand it.
He didn't have to. This was his life, though, and he accepted it for what it was, contradictions, confusions, and weird happenings all inclusive. He was, for the most part, happy to be here. He'd always wonder what might have happened with him and Beca, but he was with Jo here, and they were moving into serious relationship territory at a fairly steady pace. He wasn't complaining.
He had been out for a run, and stopped to admire the scene in front of him. The river was beautiful, the trees and plants around it green and lush with the first days of summer. He bent to pick up a rock. Skimming was generally better over a lake, but the river would do just fine too.
