To a point, Elizabeth was actually enjoying her time within the school grounds. Having never had the chance to explore any school beyond the seminary and community college, there was something about just having the chance to explore an academy (even a magic one). There was history here and even she could appreciate that.
The past day had been spent exploring Hogsmead, collecting various moving cards and pictures. If she tried, she tried to imagine she was visiting Bath, with all of its various shops and places to take the water. She just tried not to think of how her family might enjoy this; for they would for the most part, but to think on it too much only reminded her how much she missed them.
She only meant to explore the lake at the time, having been away from Britain for weeks, she would take even a trip to Scotland. The lake itself was especially beautiful, like something from the classic stories-until her foot slipped along the path and she ended up falling into the lake. Only her quick reflexes kept her from falling into the deeper end, but that didn't save her from getting soaked and muddy.
Chilled and no one in sight, she had no choice but to return to through the portal to clean off. Coming through, she wondered if this were to become the norm with her, for nearly every time she went to explore new world, she came out looking unkempt and indecent. She was only grateful it was a mistep and nothing serious.
Wringing out her skirts, she headed home, grateful that atleast the weather was warmer here than Scotland. She also made a point of trying to ignore the occasional stares her muddy and damp appearance.
