Who: Anna Latham and Maggie Where: Maggies then the park When: Afternoon Why: Face Twin Time Warnings: None Status: Completed GDoc
Anna decided, after her conversation with Stilinski, she hadn't really had time to go hang out with her face twin and really meet her and get to know her. And they'd long ago decided they should be friends. So she packed up some picnic foods and trudged her way to the house where Maggie lived with the others, and knocked, rather shyly, upon the door. She wasn't sure she'd be home, but a pause to let her nose work told her she was. She sighed with a little relief, there. She pushed her hair out of her eyes and shifted on her feet. Anna was better about people, a loit better, but she was still much shyer than she once had been.
****
Maggie was in fact home. She had the day off work, and she was just lounging around, enjoying the quiet in the house while everyone else was at work. She wasn't expecting anyone, though, and was a little surprised at the knock on the door. She made her way over to check who it was before opening the door to her face twin.
"What a surprise!" she said, and it was clear she wasn't upset by the visit.
****
"Am I interrupting anything?"' She asked carefully, smiling though..she had liked talking to Maggie, and really did want to get to know her better.
She held up the basket. "I brought lunch."
****
"Nothing that is more important than lunch with a friend," Maggie said. "Do you want to come in or..." Or go out. A picnic lunch could be taken to the park. As much as Maggie loved living in a house with air conditioning after years spent living in a post apocalyptic world without electricity, she didn't mind the heat now because she knew there was escape from it.
****
She smiled at that, "out maybe? It's a nice day finally."Anna was glad this place wasn't overly hot. But she liked this middle ground.
"I figured we haven't had time to really get to know each other. I wanted to take advantage of the calm"
****
"Good plan," Maggie nodded. "Let me just grab my phone." She disappeared into the house for a minute or two, before returning to the door with her phone and keys to lock up. "All right. Let's go. I'm really glad you dropped by. I was going to scramble up some eggs or something easy for lunch. A picnic is such a better option."
****
Anna laughed softly, "venison sandwiches sound better than eggs any day." She teased as she pushed off the door. "I brought a deer home when the snow started and Scott helped me cook it up, so I have plenty"
****
"That's awesome." Maggie actually hadn't had venison for a good long while. It reminded her of the world she'd come from, but that was okay. She was in a better place now, and Beth was here. Carl too. And apparently Daryl, though she hadn't seen him yet. She wished the others would come to Madison too, for all of the craziness, it was a reprieve from the walking death they faced every day.
"I'm looking forward to it," she said with a nod as they headed out. "It's very thoughtful."
****
She smiled a bit. "I wasn't sure how long it would be and well, I don't trust this town so." She laughed softly. She was happy though. Happy enough any ways.
"We have not really had time to get to know each other and well, we are twins, so we should." She winked, grinning
****
"We totally should." Maggie grinned a little. She had a sister, of course. And Beth was in Madison Valley. But Anna was her face twin, even if they weren't actually sisters. It was kind of weird, to look at Anna and see her own image, but there were subtle differences too. Someone who didn't know them very well could easily get them mixed up, but it wasn't likely that Beth, for example, would think Anna was Maggie.
"So, what have you been up to? Are you still seeing Scott?" Maggie was married to Stilinski, and Scott was practically family. Maggie didn't know him well, but she cared for him because he was important to her husband.
****
"I am still yes, he came to stay during the snowstorm. He was worried about me." She smiled shyly, they'd never be totally confused by people who knew them but.
It was still nice to have someone like this in town. It was like looking into a mirror and while disconcerting, it was cool too
****
"That's really sweet. He's a good guy." And the fact he was a werewolf didn't phase Maggie. Being married into the Beacon Hills crowd, werewolves were a fact of life. None of the werewolves in Madison Valley really seemed to be an issue, Maggie didn't really even think about it all that often. She was more concerned with the dead rising, but hopefully that wouldn't happen here. Ever.
****
"He is. It's nice.I'm not used to that." She said quietly. "I'm still finding my feet as a werewolf and a special one at that, I tend to be skittish but he's been an incredible gentleman. It's kind of nice, really, not to feel forced." She smiled as they made it to a park.
****
"I'm glad." Maggie reached out to give Anna's arm a gentle, supportive squeeze. "I don't know Scott that well, but I know he's a good man. And it's obvious he's good for you." Maggie was perceptive, and could read between the lines.
"I don't suggest marrying him on a whim, but I definitely think he's a keeper."
****
Anna laughed softly, "no, I wouldn't do that any way. We're taking it slow so I don't panic." She smiled softly, "I'm grateful. Your husband was telling me a little about him." She grinned a touch.
"Actually your husband is why I remembered I really wanted to get to know you. He saw me at the pack bbq and started right off with I'd never confuse you for my wife by I can see why people would"
****
"I can see him saying that." Maggie grinned. For all that they were married prematurely, their marriage had worked out in the end. She loved him, and he loved her. They were well matched, and happy. That was what really mattered. They'd both been through a lot, and to find happiness with each other was a true blessing.
"Slow is good. Scott seems like the type that would respect that." Which was also nice. Some guys his age wouldn't have the patience. "I'm glad you found him. I feel like you deserve someone who will take care of you."
****
Anna laughed softly as she laid out their meal. It was roast venison with all the fixings to put together. ",he is.I'm grateful. And very lucky."
She smiled a touch, "i just need someone who doesn't push too hard. The wolf and I have been hurt enough. " she waved a hand, she wasn't ready to tell Maggie about that.
"What things do we share in common besides our faces, I wonder?"
****
Maggie rolled her shoulders and started helping to lay out the things Anna had brought. She uncapped a bottle of water and took a generous sip. it wasn't blazing hot, but it was warm out and the water was refreshing.
"Well, let's see. I grew up on a farm. I ride horses. What else? I don't know. I enjoy reading, I guess. And picnics in the park." She grinned. Anna had packed up quite a nice lunch.
****
Anna laughed, "whereas I grew up in the city, and only just learned to ride. Moved from Chicago to the middle of no where Montana in the mountains. Was learning to garden."(edited)
****
"We had a garden when we were in the prison. The fences kept the walkers out. It was...nice. I didn't have much chance to tend it, but I enjoyed it when I did." And the The Governor attacked and everyone was scattered, the garden trampled and crops destroyed. Maggie sighed. She could either get upset about it, or move on. She chose to move on rather than stay stuck in the past.
"It's nice here, to have a garden for fun rather than necessity."
****
"That sounds like a version of hell." she said lightly. "We had to keep what we were from the regular humans, but we faced more trouble from warring factions of the European wolves and Fae who decided to start a war than anything else." she sighed softly. "Wars, exhausting things. I'm glad I'm here away from it. I'm a tool back home, to be used to placate others."
"I haven't gotten that far but I'm still in the apartments. I haven't decided where I want to be more permanently."
****
"I stayed at the farm with Wanda and John for a while before I married Stilinski. I didn't really stay at the apartments long. I think I still have the keys to the one I was given, though." She hadn't thought about that for a long time. The town council had probably repurposed it by now.
"It's nice that they give us a place to stay, though. Instead of just dropping you in town and leaving you to fend for yourself entirely." She decided not to continue the conversation on the topic of war. it wasn't pleasant for either of them, and it was better to just move on.
****
She nodded. "I am too. They're better than my place in Chicago." she laughed warmly as she pushed her hair out of her eyes. "Honestly, it's nice, I think I just want a little extra room. The neighbors didnt really like me bringing a deer back." she grinned a bit more.
****
"I can help you look for a place, if you want." Maggie said. She wasn't really knowledgeable about the local real estate, but she figured it might be fun to look for a place. She settled in, picked up and took a bite of her sandwich. "But, speaking of the deer. This is really good."
****
"That would be great." she said softly. "I dont need anything big, but I just want to be a little less... surrounded." she laughed a bit nervously before smiling shyly. "Thanks. Slow roasted for a few hours before sliced for sandwiches. A Native american taught me that one. Really nice recipe"
****
"I'll take a look, see what's available. Maybe find something with a nice little garden." Maggie smiled. She was kind of excited about the prospect. She didn't need to find a house for herself, she was quite happy where she was. But it would be fun to look around and see what Madison had to offer.
"It's really good. I may have to get the recipe from you, if you're willing to share." She had a feeling Stilinski, Mason, and Jordan would like it.
****
"Thank you, Maggie. I really appreciate it." she said with a big smile as she dug into her sandwich. "I could share it, yes." she smiled. "And provide you with some to bring back to the men, I have a ton of venison left over." she would be happy to do so, and happy to spend the afternoon chatting and eating. It was nice, really, to make friends.
