Who: Anna Latham and Scott McCall Where: Anna's Apartment When: Evening Why: Snowed! In Warnings: Nudity, cuteness Status: Completed GDoc
The snow had started to fall, and it was growing thick and heavy. It was strange for this time of year. As it started to pile up she trekked out in Wolf form, she hunted for food her, she dragged a deer back and into the apartment when she smelled Scott. She changed back, shivering in the cold as she pulled the deer over her shoulder. She'd skipped the store because she knew it would be too crowded, and she didn't know how long this would last. She pushed the door open and dropped the deer in the kitchen table. "Scott! Why did you risk coming out??"
Scott flashed a smile. "I wanted to make sure you were all right. It's really coming down out there. I called, but." He shrugged. Obviously she hadn't been able to answer, probably didn't even have her phone with her while she'd been hunting. Of course, he hadn't known she was hunting, so he'd been a little worried that she didn't answer. So he'd come over. And now he was here.
"I can help you prep the deer," he told her. He didn't have a lot of practice doing such things, but Clay had taught him the basics. At least enough that he felt like he could help.
Anna smiled at that. "I'm sorry to have worried you. I don't know how long this will last and didn't dare go to the store. I figured this would be easier." She grabbed a towel from the kitchen and cleaned her shoulder off.
"I'll show you. I'll get most cooking now just in case, this feels like dome fuckery. I'm worried about things." She grabbed the clothes by the door and slipped then on, then back to grab the knives they'd need.."there's a couple garbage bags under the sink. We'll need them." She paused then moved to kiss him.
"A few days, probably." Scott sighed. Probably long enough for people to get cabin fever, he figured. And then it would melt and cause even more problems. The dome was a bitch, but he'd take a little snow storm over nightmares or forgetting who he was again.
He nodded, trying to not watch her get dressed. Then she kissed him and he moved a hand through her hair. A smile touched his lips when she pulled away. "I'km looking forward to the lesson," he said. "And I was going to suggest cooking it now. If the power goes out and we can't cook..." The idea of eating raw meat didnt' really appeal to him, even though he was a werewolf.
She sighed against him, allowing herself the pleasure for a moment. They could snuggle after this was done. "I figured. I hate this weird shit sometimes. Not always but sometimes."
She didn't care if he watched. She cared about him and while she had a couple scars she hid he could see them and ask eventually. She smiled, "I'd be fine. I'd just change to consume it. Took a long time to get there though." She laughed softly then started skinning it, she'd freeze the hide and tan it later. Then she carefully showed him how to cut into the deer, how to avoid puncturing the intestines, before they got down to the real work. "It took a long time to be able to do this too"
Scott nodded as she explained. "Clay showed me how to do it, but I've never really done it. So." He was more than happy to watch, and maybe learn from watching. It was somewhat disgusting, though he wasn't disgusted by it. It just wasn't pleasant. But it had to be done, and the meat would be good once it was cooked.
"It seems like the kind of thing you have to just get out there and do a few times to really get good at it." A lot of things were that way. At least, a lot of things worth doing.
"Pretty much." She'd walk him though every step, patient and with respect to the deer. She stripped every bone, and carefully laid them in a bin. She'd use the marrow for soup stock. "It's not pleasant but it's something we do in Aspen Creek. Winters are rough."
She saved the liver and the heart for hash, then showed him how to make a bunch of dishes at once, carefully storing the rest. "I'll make jerky from some of it, I think. We can have heart hash for breakfast if we have power. I promise is really good."
"I trust you." And he did. He was curious, he'd like to try the heart hash. But that was for morning. For now, they were making more dinner type dishes. Scott took mental notes, but he figured he could also as Anna to write it all down later.
He did whatever she asked him to do, helping as much as he could, trying not to be in the way. It was kind of fun, actually. He could see why Mercy enjoyed cooking so much, and so often.
Anna made different things than mercy did. She'd learned from an Italian chef, and loved changing things up to work with things like venison. She enjoyed the fact he was here with her, helping.
"I.think we'll be set. I've got the crock pots going." Because while she was only one girl, she was a werewolf. She ate a lot and she was still underweight. She ran her hand over her face then laughed. "Shit. Blood on my face." She smiled shyly. "Shower?"
"Youve seen me naked how many times now?" She asked, smirking at him. Her eyes were edged with blue but she was smiling. "I'm not offering everything, but I'm inviting you to jump in with me." She cocked a shoulder upwards, a gentle shrug. "I mean, I wouldn't mind"
Scott's eyes flickered to her face, and he smiled. He nodded. "A shower seems like a good plan right now." After being elbow deep in deer carcass. Besides, why would he discourage a shower? "Do you want, I mean, I could...wash your back?" He hoped that wasn't too forward, but if she
"A few times," Scott said with a little smile. It was almost entirely unavoidable. Spending any significant amount of time with her generally meant seeing her naked, since she was naked when she changed.
"I mean I'll have to put on the same clothes I have on now, since I didn't bring any extra, but." He lifted his shoulder in a half shrug. That wasn't a big deal for him, he'd put it all on clean first thing when he'd gotten up.
She laughed softly, "we can wash them, I mean I'm pretty sure flannel PJ bottoms are unisex." She grinned at him as she started towards the bathroom. She'd have work to do once the snow let up by she'd deal with the carcass later. It would be fine.
"I promise, I don't bite." Wolf blue eyes glittered for a moment before she forcedthe wolf down. She was perfectly capable of flirting without the help. She did run her wrists for a moment, he'd seen them but she still as a little self conscious about them. "I'm really glad you came to check up on me"
He followed her to the bathroom, shedding his shirt as he went. Might as well, it was going to come off anyway. And that way it was one less thing he had to worry about. And it was something he could focus on when she rubbed at her wrists. he'd seen the scars, of course he had. But that wasn't the sort of thing to casually call attention to.
"I'm glad I came too. I was worried when you didn't answer. I mean, not like worried something was wrong or whatever. But." He shrugged. "I figured it couldn't hurt to come check on you."
It was a nervous habit, to rub at them. She couldn't stop if she tried. They were an old reminder. She stopped only when she got into the bathroom to turn on the hot water. She piled her clothes onto the floor as she looked back at him and smiled.
"I couldn't have answered. The Wolf, she is smart but paws and phones well... " she snickered, "I think they wouldn't work too well. She isn't fond of communicating that way any way." She shrugged a bit as she held a hand out to him.
"I know. I figured that was what kept you from answering, but I thought I should come and check anyway. Make sure since snow this time of year is pretty much not even possible. But it's happening, which means the dome is being weird, so..." So anything could be happening, really. And he worried. He was a worrier; he always had been.
Especially when it came to the people he loved and cared about. He worried about those people almost constantly even when he knew they were more than capable of taking care of themselves.
"Pretty sure she'd try to use the phone if she had to but it would end poorly for my phone. She's not exactly gentle." she laughed softly as she pushed her hair back and tested the water before stepping back into the shower.
"I'm glad you did. Considering this is more fun from the Dome, it's nicer to not be stuck alone and it certainly feels like we'll be stuck. Feels like a winter in Montana."
"I can imagine." Scott laughed a little at the image of a wolf trying to use a phone. It would be hilarious, but he could imagine also frustrating. He hoped Anna was never in a position to need to use the phone while her wolf was in control.
He shed the last of his clothes before stepping into the shower with her. He moved under the water, allowing it to rain down on him.
Anna leaned on the wall of the shower, soaking up the warmth. "We're not the most patient in the middle of the change and she's got the tolerance for modern things of someone three times our age." she laughed softly.
She paused for a moment and leaned forward to press a kiss to his lips, cautious, she wasn't sure about much but she was sure about him and the wolf was content, too. He eased her anxiety and made it easier to just relax.
He shifted his hips slightly when she moved toward him. He anticipated the kiss and leaned that little bit forward to meet her halfway. His eyes closed and his hands moved up to her shoulders. There was something about her, something that soothed the restlessness inside him in a way nothing else could.
She wasn't at all like Allison or Kira, there was no comparison there. She was Anna, and she was amazing and unique and while it was far too soon to say he loved her, he could feel himself falling in love with her. And he decided not to fight it.
Anna draped her arms around his neck and sighed softly, content, as she moved to rest her forehead against his. Anna's wolf was resting for once, too, not on constant watch despite having just been on all four feet.
"Thank you." she said softly, barely loud enough to be heard over the water if you weren't graced with good senses. She wasn't about to tell him he'd had a huge hand in helping her save her from a few months of agony. A cut bond was painful and could send a wolf mad. But he'd stepped in and gave both her and her wolf something to focus on and it made her happy, like he belonged in her life.
"You're welcome," he said in reply, his tone just as soft. The water muted the words but they were there, soft and light and unassuming between them. There was no pressure, no expectation of anything beyond being there for each other.
It would be all too easy to initiate sex, standing naked in the shower with the warm water cascading around them. And while the thought was there, the desire was there, Scott didn't make a move toward it. It didn't feel necessary, or even right, at the moment. Hw was content to just stand there with her, arms around each other, sharing an embrace and a moment of truth and what amounted to genuine bonding of friendship.
Anna was cautious about sex, to begin with, she'd been passed around as the pack party favor to keep her submissive, and she had trust issues in that regard. She didn't think Scott would ever do such a thing, but she wanted to take this slow.
Kisses were fine, they didn't trigger any panic and the wolf just rolled her eyes at her hesitation. She nipped playfully at his lip before laughing. "You're so patient with me."
He let a hand drift, fingers curled so that his knuckles grazed her cheek and his hand dropped to her neck, fingers soft as fathers against her skin. "I feel like anything else would be counter productive. And I'm in no hurry. We're young, there's no need to rush."
She tilted her head into his fingers then her neck, letting him explore without worrying about it. She smiled warmly, fingers running lightly through his hair. "It would be. I'd run, the wolf would try to stop me because she's my smarter half, it would be unfun for all of us." she grinned at him.
"The thought of making you run like that, it's not my style." Scott shook his head. "I'd rather take it slow, ease us both into it." He didn't have the trauma she had, of course. But he had been in two serious relationships, and he was skittish about going into another one. He felt like Anna was a good choice, but going slow was in both their best interests.
"And I mean. Showering together is a pretty big step." There was no awkwardness at being naked. He'd seen her change many times. And while he didn't change the way that she did, he felt no shame regarding his body. Why shoudl he?
She nodded at him, laughed as she awkwardly bumped heads, and rolled her eyes at herself. "This is why I really like you, you get it." she smiled as she rubbed her forehead a bit, laughing.
"You've seen me naked, it's not scary, and I trust you." bodies were bodies, and she'd learned to not be so modest, oh, she was still careful about it and didn't just run around naked, but if she trusted you, being naked around you wasn't something that made her nervous. "Besides, it's only fair I get to see you the same way at least once in awhile" she teased gently.

"Hey now." He grinned. "I'll get naked for you any time." He meant it. As long as they were somewhere that it wasn't inappropriate to get naked. Being naked, even being naked together, didnt' mean sex was imminent. Clothing was a man made thing, anyway, and the wolves didn't care about modesty
Anna laughed, her nose crinkling up as she did so, eyes bright. "Careful, I might take you up on that." she smirked a bit as she turned off the shower, shivering for a moment before smirking against. It was always weird thinking of herself as not really human anymore, but the longer she was wolf, the more she began to really understand the logic. Her clothes had long since begun changing to fit her needs - easy to get in and out of - comfy.
"I think that means I'm forcing you into flannel pants and nothing else tonight." she grinned - flirting, snuggling, being close. Anna craved that much more than sex, anyways. Wolves were strangely touchy feely things.
Sounds perfect." Scott stepped out of the shower and put a hand out to help her out. She didnt' need it, of course not. but it was a gesture more than anything else. Once they were both out, he grabbed a towel, offering it to her before getting a second one for himself.
she took the offered hand and then the towel, wrapping it around her to smile, quietly deciding snow storms weren't all bad, before padding off to find him a pair from her stash. He wasn't that much bigger than her and she bought things bigger than needed anyways since, you know, easy to get out of, she returned and grinned
"Convenient that you just happen to have a pair big enough for me." He wasn't much bigger than her, really, but he was a guy. Bodies were built different. But the pants would work for him, and he slid them on easily.
"Trust me the first time you try to change while still wearing clothes that actually fit, you learn fast to keep like two sizes too big around" she laughed softly. "And don't even get me started about forgetting to take off things like bra's first."
"I can imagine." Scott winced at the thought. He didn't really have to worry about things like that, but it was still awkward to think about. "Well, it works out in our favor tonight, anyway."
"It's as awkward, hilarious and frustrating as you can imagine." she laughed a bit as she wiggled into a pair of shorts and a tank top, before dragging him back out to the living room, the apartment smelled delicious. "I have less trouble since usually i have enough mind to think before i leap, as it were, but i've seen them need tochange in a hurry and not care. But i'm clumsy as it is, so i'd break a leg on a bra and that would be awful"
"That would be....yeah. Awful." He couldn't help but laugh, though, because the imagery was also funny. It wouldn't be funny if it actually happened and she got hurt, but thinking about it was amusing.
"We should go for a run sometime. Maybe when there isn't snow on the ground."
She flopped down on the couch and pulled him with her. "Yeah no, I've seen Mercy do it a time or two and it's hilarious so I'll skip it." she grinned a bit then nodded.
"that would be good. I did enough running through the snow this winter, I think a nice run in the regular weather would be great"
We don't get much snow in California. So, you know. The first winter I was here was the first snow I really saw. I can't say I like the idea of snow in late May." It was wrong for so many reasons. And what was the point? What was the dome trying to do? It didn't make much sense.
Anna tucked her legs up and leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder, fingers running over his side lazily. "I lived in Chicago first, so snow really was not a surprise, and then Montana though? Way more snow than I'd ever seen. But no where does it snow at the end of May, not here."
Scott drew a settling breath, as he snuggled in on the couch with Anna pressed against him. There was nothing sexual, but it felt deeply intimate all the same. "No. It's definitely not normal. My guess is it'll last for a few days, and then everything will go back to normal, like any other weirdness the dome has thrown at us." His fingers toy with a bit of her hair.
Anna was at peace, it was a pleasant feeling and she smiled softly as he toyed with her hair. She might be wanting to wait on anything more until they were both more settled into this, but she wasn't above getting to know him better too. Fingers lazily tracing along bone and muscle. "Ten to one we're snowed in enough that getting out would be impossible anyway." she laughed softly. "I swear this place, I don't even know"
"It's unpredictable," Scott sighed, then shrugged. "But whatever happens, we're here and we'll ride it out." What else could they do? A snowstorm at the end of May wasn't the end of the world. Probably. At least, Scott didn't have that kind of fatalist outlook. It was just another day at the whim of the dome. No bog deal.
"We sure will. Hopefully together" she smiled at him, and snuggled down, fingers playing over his side lazily. "I'm really glad you came over" she tucked there to rest, and enjoy the time she had with him. Who knew how long the snow would last? [fin]
