Who: Stephen Strange and Scarlett Bernard
When: Thursday
Where: Scarlett’s Apartment
What: Serious discussions (Infinity War spoilers!) and snow
Warnings: Probably some mild language? TBD?
Status: Closed/In-Progress, Partial GDoc & TBC in comments
Strange had allowed an ample amount of time to pass in allowing himself the necessary silence to process all that had happened. While he had not gone home to physically encounter the events, they had come rushing through his mind throughout the night. Some so vivid that Stephen swore he had actually been there. Felt those sharp needles piercing his skin as he fought with every breath to protect the Time Stone.
Then he handed it over without a second thought. Despite his bitter words given to one Tony Stark that he would let others die to protect it, Stephen had handed it to Thanos. It was difficult to say whether his decision would have been different in another timeline. He had looked through so many - over 14 million - with only one showing them winning.
Stephen had wanted to tell the others who were in Madison. The ones he had passed every day, but didn’t know, were now a mixture of emotionally and physically torn souls or dust. It wasn’t his to tell, though. Most seemed happy and he was not going to strip that away.
Which was why he was finally making his way to talk with Scarlett. He needed to explain why he had been so vague. He would also be looking for an explanation for the sudden flurries in the middle of an approaching summer. That was very new, though Stephen wasn’t completely surprised.
Knocking on Scarlett’s apartment door, he would wait and prepare for that feeling of losing his powers. It still took him a moment after all this time, but Stephen was getting better at adapting to it.

When Scarlett went to open the door she felt a familiar bzzt of magic shorting out in her radius. When she was around people long enough she could learn what their power felt like in her radius and she probably spent more time around Stephen than others so she was fairly sure who was going to be outside the door.
To be honest she really hadn’t been paying attention to the outside world so her smile of welcome faded quickly into confusion then an exasperated sigh. “It’s snowing? What the hell?” That was what happened when you were taking advantage of a day off and nothing to do but catch up on things she wanted to watch and read.

It had already started to fall harder and Stephen simply shook his head at Scarlett’s question. Though he knew it wasn’t directed to him, he would try and offer an answer.
“Not even I can explain this one.” Which just made Stephen feel even more uncomfortable than he was already feeling. Still, he wasn’t here to discuss the weather. Truthfully, he was here to both talk with Scarlett and just see her.
Reaching a hand out, Stephen placed it against her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. Scarlett was there. She was a living and breathing solid figure. That was a comfort for sure.
“I’m glad to see you.”

“So basically a dome special 101.” It was still weird to see snow after living in LA and right around it her whole life. There wasn’t snow there. Sure you could hop in your car and go to the mountains fairly fast but no one really seemed to make the effort.
The hand on her shoulder put the smile back on her face but there was still a hint of curiosity and confusion in it. Molly would be telling her to stop questioning that he was glad to see her but she was who she was. “Don’t get this wrong but you’re acting like you’ve been diagnosed with some sort of terminal illness or something. You’re not sick are you?” It was the only correlation she could come up with. It was like someone who was going to die or thought they might. “And I’m glad to see you too. Do you want to come in out of the snow?”

Stephen couldn’t help but grin. A true grin that bordered on an actual smile. One that was sincere and wasn’t riddled with snark.
“As long as you don’t mind as I have a feeling I may be stuck here for a bit.” Had he planned it? Not entirely. Stephen had wanted to come see Scarlett, yes. Talk to her and let her know what had happened. Finding himself unable to leave afterward? That had not been in the initial plan. It was too late to go back now, though.
Brushing what snow off that he could, Stephen stepped inside. “Don’t be surprised if you start getting my mail sooner or later,” he commented with the trademark smirk. He was certainly at her apartment enough it seemed.

It was the fact that she knew that side was under all the snark after their time together without memories that made her appreciate that grin whenever it showed up. It was like catching sight of a rare beast. Granted, her own self without all the masks was just as rare sometimes probably.
“Well why not mail, there’s still clothes in the closet.” He’d taken the old set home wearing it after the memory thing but there had been ones needing washed and they’d ended up in the same spot because she’d just been used to having them there. And giving them back seemed like it would possibly cause more snark at the time. “Besides with all this snow we could build a snowman, you wouldn’t want to miss out on that.”
She waited until he was inside to close the door, after one last look at the snow that apparently was going to stick and build up fast since it had already coated the ground. And of course she realized that she was home alone reading and binging a Netflix show so she was wearing a tank top that said “Smiling gives you wrinkles, resting bitch face keeps you pretty” and lounge pants.
“I’m going to grab a sweatshirt, it’s apparently going to be cold.” And as much fun as it could be to stay warm by cuddling up with someone it definitely wasn’t tank top weather anymore.

Build a snowman? Stephen did his best not to shake his head at the very idea. There were people who were not used to seeing snow or being around wintery weather. Perhaps he'd be a decent sort of person and humor her. Maybe.
"Of course." Fortunately, living as the protector, Stephen's choice in clothing had certainly been simplified than it had been prior to his new life. "I'll make us tea." Perhaps with something a little extra because if they got deep into the conversation that Stephen was going to offer to her, it was likely alcohol would be needed.
