Most People used rods and nets if they wished to catch fish. Indeed, Elizabeth had found several locations that sold rods, lines and other such tools that were perfectly suitable to the task, but she also didn't see the fun in that either. Perhaps some might see it as relaxing, but she preferred a more 'hands on' approach'. Growing up, in order to test their reflexes and mental discipline, Oscar Bennet had taught his daughters how to fish, not with any sort of tool or net, but their own hands. Standing about knee deep in water, forcing them to remain otherwise still and ignore the chill setting in, he had them all remain there until each of the sisters had managed to catch a fish.
Though one could argue that standing knee deep in the lake was not the most enjoyable way to spend the morning, Elizabeth couldn't let go of the memories and how doing so connected her to her family. More than anything, it was just another way to keep her skills sharp.
Mornings were the best time to catch anything, about when the fish were feeding and more active. Elizabeth had carefully waded out so the water was up to her calves. This time of the morning, the water was still cold, but she forced her mind to a different place so as to not let it distract her, while keeping her eyes on the water.
