Thor stretched, lifting a bucket of ice water and dumping it over his head. He groaned, but it felt good. The aches of the training session subsiding some as he stretched again, letting the cold water slowly wash down him, soaking clothing and skin. It felt good, and the training had felt good, and he was very glad to have managed it.
The last few weeks had been a little busy, and a little full, but he was finding he always made time for training. He needed it and craved it. It was important to him. as was Sigrun. With a grin he glanced over at Sigrun and smiled, raising one eyebrow.
"How do you feel, oh mentor-y one?"
Sigrun was stretched out under the sun, soaking up the warmth, eyes closed. She was bone weary. She'd been training Thor, and Torvi and Bjorn. clove and Harry while still juggling the jobs and Valhalla.
But she didn't need to sleep so there was that. "Like I need a bottle of Meade, a half a deer, a massage and a good lay." She laughed as she looked towards him.
Well, I can provide all but one of those." He smirked at her and flopped back on the ground, lettinhg the sun soak in., enjoying it, loving it. The wind moving across his skin told him of storms far away, the earth below him told him of the creatures within it, and above it, nearby. He smiled as he rested, and nodded.
"Food, drink, and a massage,I can provide, dear one." He glanced at her, eyebrows waggling a little. "And can go looking to find you someone tough."
Sigrun stretched lazily and let her toes curl into the ground. She didn't mind the warming earth, it felt good to have it under her. She'd worked hard with Thor, pushing herself to her limits again and again, all in order to make him better. It was tiring but it was worth every second. He was her god, after all, and making sure she fulfilled the role he'd given her meant a lot.
"Yes, yes, yes and eh." she shrugged a little. "It's unnecessary."
Thor smirked as he rested, shaking his head. "What sort of God would I be if I did not see to all of the needs of my worshippers, hmm? Besides, I like it when you are happy." He nodded, feeling content, mostly joking/teasing her. Mostly. He enjoyed their banter. She made him better at that, too.
"The irrigation ditch is coming along well. Should be able to feed water to the entire farming field by the end of the week." Some of it was already planted, so he was addressing that area as a priority now. Doing his best to keep it watered and fed. The idea of producing food and usable herbs on their own land filled him with a joy and pride, and he liked the idea, a great deal.
One who does not worry about the other aspects of his followers lives?" she teased as she leaned up to look at him. "Seriously, it's not a big deal" she rolled her eyes at him before laying back down.
"It is, most of it will be ready soon. Things are going fast. Arthur helps that. Seems we've had a visitor, too, from one of the other groups who settled further from town. She's been offering her help, or so I have been told"
Thor snerked. "Who says I don't worry about those aspects of my followers. I worry about all of you, and in many ways." He chuckled as he glanced at her, and shrugged. "As you wish."
"Nothing wrong with that. Good neighbors is how we got Vanaheim, after all, and half of the Gods." He grinned and nodded. Hogun had been a grand friend. His smile slowly waned as he remembered how his friend had died. His eyes closed again as he pushed away the sorrow, the gaping wound that still sat there for his people, and his friends, who had been slain in Hela's insane quest to rule Asgard.
"Seriously, no one here can really keep uo with me." She winked a bit. "Besides, when would I even have time?" She arched a brow at him.,
"I think they'll be helpful. It'll be good to have more help now and again"
Thor laughed. "I know. Most days when I go home, I sleep so hard that I feel like I am stone solid." He shook his head. "And no dreams, which is a relief." he had had nightmares after his return, even before the crazy of the dome, which had not helped at all.But having multiple projects and a loved one to cherish helped. Plus he had friends and worshippers to keep tabs on, it all took time and helped him concentrate.
"It will. And we need to be more than just us. We need to be open. Without sacrificing us, of course. I am glad, in this, that we have allies, and more, maybe good neighbors." It felt right to Thor, to have such, like restoring order to something lost
She just smiled, she didn't sleep. She often slipped back out to work on more projects. She wasn't tired, not really, but things did wear her down. She'd eventually crash for a few hours.
"Oh certainly. Everyone knows we are preserving a way of life, they're welcome to join us for respite but there are things we are holding dear"
Thor slept when he wanted to. Not always, and not often, but he liked to do so, now and then. He smiled as he watched her, and reached out to poke her, lightly.
"True." He smiled warmly as he rose to extend a hand to her. "Hot water?" He referred to their 'hot pond'. The water would feel good on muscles tired and achy.
"And you can tell me more of our new ally.
She took the offered hand and rolled to her feet so she could stand. She stretched aching muscles and nodded. "Hot water good." she laughed as she headed over to their pool and stripped down to slip in. She had forgotten she hadn't shown Thor yet.
But now he got to see waht she'd promised she'd do months ago. His hammer detailed, and the handle's end set at the hollow of her collar bones, the head tucked and spread beneath both breasts, inked carefully into place. Another of a raven vanishing into a tree at the back of her neck and shoulder.
Thor followed, and smiled as he stripped, groaning as the sweaty clothing came off and he sank into the water. Aching muscles were glad to feel heat and relaxation. The tattoos made him smile wider as he gazed on them, then let his eyes rise to her face. Pride, gratitude, and joy, filled those eyes. His words were in old Norse as he spoke. "My Valkyrior. My Hammer. In whom I am most proud."
There was a thickness in his voice, and he smiled softly. "Sigrun. You honor me like no god has ever been honored."
She only shrugged as she settled into the hot water. "I told you' I'd get it done. It just took longer than planned to do so." Her skin was dotted with ink, from both her original life and later, the old were being redone. But these two were wholly new.
"It is a physical reminder to any who see just to whom I serve" she was, of course, speaking in old Norse. "I had Torvi assist. I do not trust many for such things."
He sank in letting himself get comfortable on the stone stepped ridges, and nodded. "Nothing wrong with that. This place does get a little busy now and then. Just a bit."
Thor nodded. "Good. She is a good one, and learning such cannot hurt." He smiled warmly to her, feeling touched and proud, and relaxing more.
"You are a good woman, Sigrun."
Sigrun only shook her head and smiled. "No. I am just ensuring my job is fulfilled. It is honorable work and one I am pleased to do." She leaned her head back and rested it against the ball, sighing softly.
"She is. Steady hand, too. Such work is delicate and hard. She is a good one." She was just happy he liked the work. It was done, finally. "You are a good one to Serve, Thor."
Thor still felt honored and touched, and he smiled as he, too, rested himself in the hot water. He felt the wind stroke over his skin, telling of distant storms and long off speech, and movement, and he swirled the water, a small part of his mind feeling the movements of others in water across this land.
The part of him with her smiled wider. "Good. It is always good to have another such here. Our people grow, and grow stronger." He nodded again, sighing happily. Her words? Those brought a boyish smile and a blush to his cheeks. "I am glad you think it so, dear Lady. I am made more by those who Serve me well. Never has one been made better or served so well."
Sigrun stretched as she ran her fingers over the water and smiled. "Sometime you'll have to add your touch to it, like you said." she said lazily as she laid her head back, hair soaking in the water. Grime washing out like there was no trouble.
He was easy to rile up and get to smile. She liked that about him. Odin was far more exhausting for her, some days anyways. Thor was simpler. And that was ... nicer. "They do. We are vast in numbers compared to when we began. It is nice." she smirked a touch. "You flatter me."
"Of course, my friend. I will be glad to do so. You are my hammer and my one good Eye. I think I can make a contribution to this." He had a few ideas, things he was working on. He would gladly do this. With a stretch, he sat up a little more, chuckling, ideas percolating in his head.
"I tell the truth, dear Lady. Never will I ever do else. And I say what I mean." he waggled a finger at her, electricity razzling along it. With a chuckle, he sent a soft zap to her, causing static to sizzle along her hair.
She watched him with a smrik. "I'm collecting titles and it's rare, I am still amused even this far along in our time here. I am sure that you will decide on what is appropriate. I enjoy being those things for you, the one you can depend on."
She wrinkled her nose as he made her hair get all staticy. "Thor!" she snarked as she dunked it under the water to shake off the static. "I know, I know. You are an honest one and you say what you mean. Don't worry, I know it"
Thor nodded to her, eyes warm with regard. He smirked at her, and laughed as she reacted to his little sizzle.
"Good. Static is fun to play with." he grinned at her, wider. "You made today work well, I learned a few new things. And I will be aching all night." But he was grinning and happy. He was learning, becoming stronger, better, more able, and that was what he wanted. To be the best he could be, to serve his people as the strongest and kindest and best Thor he could be. It did not all come easily, but he did not care if he had to work for it. it was what he had to do and be. And Sigrun was taking hi9m there. For that, he would always be grateful.
