WHO: Merlin and Terezi WHAT: An adventure in Waterdeep WHEN: Today WHERE: Portal/Waterdeep WARNINGS: None STATUS: Closed and Completed Gdoc
Terezi had heard of the portal and since she was the curious sort, she sniffed it out and headed through. After getting the info and cash, she headed into the main part of the city. But once she explored as much as she could, she began to grow bored. She wondered if she should check out the more dangerous places. Yes, she was blind and wished she had the Alchemiter to make some quick weapons, but she had her cane/swords, so it wasn't like she was completely defenseless.
But she was hungry, so perhaps after lunch, she'd go explore more. She glanced around for a nearby restaurant when she smelled someone familiar. She crossed the street and grinned as she reached Merlin. "Hey. I was just going to eat lunch. Want to join me?"
***
Merlin smiled as he turned to her, and gently clasped her shoulder, a warm smile there. “Terezi! Yes! I would love that.” he nodded, thinking. “What sort of thing would you like? How are you?” He was enjoying himself, and it was fun. He waved a hand around them. “THis world is wild, and very fun.”
He had gone around a bit and made a little bit of coin already, with hsi magic.
***
"Whoa, lots of question," Terezi said, holding up her hands. Okay so it was really only a couple, but she felt like there was more than that. Still, she answered them. "I'm thinking of trying something at a restaurant I passed by earlier. The food there smelled pretty good," she grinned. She had actually been across the street but with her strong sense of smell, she could smell it from a distance.
"I'm good, glad to be back to myself again." She really did not like being the other Terezi. Yes, she had tapped into the memories of the other her, but she still didn't like to think about it.
So she shrugged it off and nodded. "Yeah, it really is fun," she agreed.
***
“Sorry, dear one. Old habits of odd selves.” He smiled apologetically to her. Merlin liked this one. He cocked his head to the side as he nodded. “Then we can go there, if you wish.” He nudged her gently. A chance to talk to her and eat with her was one he would not overlook.
“Good. I am glad you are back to you, and I am back to me. Young other me was not me but was an idiot, and somewhat… no, very misled a lot. He allowed himself to be led by the nose and made very little choice himself. It is unpleasant having his memories and thinking they are mine.”
he made a face. Other!Merlin had begun to turn himself around while in Madison, but it had been a new thing.
***
Terezi waved him off, as if to say it's cool and that she didn't mind. She was really only teasing. "Alright, let's go," she grinned as she lead the way, using her nose to guide her way.
"Yeah. My other self got really messed up after she killed her friend. I already knew since I can tap into memories of my other selves. But living through that was awful.
***
Merlin walked along with her, grinning. “I am at your service.”
The place was bustling, and somewhat noisy, but it seemed a whole different kind of noisy, with races from elves to dwarves to Giff and far more strange ones, including a giant Treant thumping along, causing some consternation as it disrupted traffic a little.
“Ouch. Not nice. I can imagine it was. I am glad you are you.”
***
Terezi walked along, sniffing as she 'looked' around. This place was quite amazing and she loved all the new smells and scents. A part of her wished she could actually see what all these creatures looked like but then she decided nah.
"Me too," she nodded as they walked inside the restaurant. "Not just her. Remember when people mentioned seeing another Madison Valley but with vampires? I can see memories of myself from that world too."
***
“Really? That must be a little disconcerting.” he hesitated. “I am sorry for what i did to you/here, there.” he sighed. It had hurt him to hurt the other her, even knowing it was not the same one.
“I hate alternate universes, sometimes.”
He watched where she inhaled, grinning. She truly had remarkable senses.
***
"It's fine. It wasn't really you. Well, it was but..." She trailed off a bit and when he said he hated alternate universes, she nodded. "Yeah, same," she agreed. She hated it even more that she could remember some of them.
They found an empty table and sat down. "But enough about that. Besides the latest bout of town weirdness, what have you been up to?" she asked as she grabbed a menu and looked at it. And by that, she actually put it right up to her nose and sniffed.
***
“It was me.” He spoke softly. “My mind crossed over to that universe, and possessed that me’s body, pushing him right out. He was a real bastard. And other you… was so not you.” he swallowed and shuddered.
He walked with her and sighed.
“Building a tower, settling in with a girlfriend in a new house, and being the same silly me.”
***
"Yeah, she really hates what you did," Terezi said. "Luckily for you, I adore you," she grinned, trying to lighten the mood.
"You have a tower? I need to see this," she said. "What's the tower for?" she asked curiously.
***
Merlin grinned at her. “And I adore you, as well.” He gently squeezed her shoulder, smiling.
“I am building one. I will have one. And it is for study and quiet. For storing magic and magic things away from the town.” he nodded. A safe space, so to speak.
***
"Oh, cool," Terezi grinned. "I'll have to check it out once it's done." Even if she didn't do magic, she still wanted to see it.
"The hive I lived in used to be in a tree," she told him then added, "and by hive, I mean my old house. My house was in a tree." She missed her old home. It was awesome and her walls were covered in her chalk drawings.
***
“You will always be welcome where I am, Terezi. That is a promise.” He smiled warmly at her, fond of her and he would gladly welcome here there. Maybe he would make a treehouse.
“Did you like living in a treehouse?” He pondered this, and ideas sprang out of his head.
***
"I did," Terezi replied with a grin. "My friend used to always get me to move in one of the hives next to him, but I always told him nope, I like my treehouse."
Don't get it wrong, she liked the house she lived in with Vex and Dagny. But she missed her old home. It was where she grew up, where she had so many memories both good and bad. Sometimes she really missed Alternia.
***
Merlin nodded and started sketching in his mind. “Maybe we could build one in Madison, sometime.”
He grinned as they looked at a menu. “The food here looks good.” he knew what he wanted, for sure.
***
Terezi stared for a moment. "Really? I never thought of doing that." She liked the house she lived in now, and even though she was eighteen and could probably get her own place, she didn't feel the need to leave Vex and Dagny. She was perfectly happy where she was.
But having a treehouse sounded amazing. "That would be pretty cool," she grinned. "Like maybe it can be a little hideaway for me and a couple others." She had a few people in mind. Merlin, of course, was one of them and not just because he'd be helping to build it.
"It does," she smiled. "I think I'll try the special." Which was what she ordered when a waiter had came by.
***
Merlin nodded. “Of course. Treehouses are best made so they vanish and are seen only when known of.” he smirked. It would be fun! He would enjoy helping her have one. Creation was something he enjoyed.
“Yes? Good.” He examined the menu and out it aside. “I’ll have the venison. I enjoy seeing how different places make that sort of thing.” And he ordered his from the waiter, then turned back to Terezi.
“I’m glad to wander with you.,”
*** "Okay, that would be so cool," she grinned. A magical treehouse that only appeared to certain people? That would be amazing.
She nodded and as the waiter left to get their food, she turned to him and smiled. "Me too, Mr. Magic Man."
***
Merlin smiled as they sat there waiting for good, talking, and enjoying each others’ company. This was what he missed sometimes, and he was glad to find it again.
