Adam had been twitchy ever since he'd turned back into himself. He'd also been entirely too worried about what it meant for him that the person he'd turned into had been a violent psychopath. Nobody understood how this damn place worked, if there was any logic behind who somebody turned into -- if it fed off some part of your psyche that you didn't necessarily want to examine. If that was the case? Yeah, he really didn't want to look too closely at Cameron. He was going to be having nightmares about Cameron.
And that was to say nothing of the effect he'd had on Gale.
Adam didn't have work, and it wasn't his turn to get out without Katie, but he was able to get out on his own with the simple explanation that he just needed to clear his head -- that was the good part of what he and Finch had: while he knew he'd have to actually tell her about Cameron and the kind of person he'd been, and soon, he didn't have to do it right then. At the moment she'd give him a little time to deal, even if that meant taking on a few extra hours of watching their daughter by herself.
So he'd gone to the bookstore instead, and wandered, and was proud of himself for not hiding at work instead. He'd been known to do that, too, after all. No, this time it was books. Browsing anything light and fluffy, anything with no redeeming social value whatsoever. Anything that didn't make him think. It didn't work, and he wound up tucked at a table in the little cafe, lost in thought and drinking a coffee that'd gone cold about twenty minutes back.
