Evan drew a breath. He didn't like the way she started the conversation with reference to that few days when she hadn't been herself. That had been horrible, for him. But he'd managed it, he'd dealt with it, he'd figured out alternate arrangements, and he hadn't done anything reckless or stupid.
He swallowed hard, through a lump in his throat, and nodded. "It was...I was scared." He focused on a new leaf that had sprouted near to where he was sitting. it was easier to focus on that, than to look at Turner right then. "I didn't...I didn't like that other you."
