Cassie took a seat as asked even if the need to help even set the table or something was strong. It was simply how she was and it was the normal routine for things at home.
Still, she didn't want to make Birkhoff feel any awkward than he already felt. Then they both already felt. "Thanks," she said when he handed her a cup and plate. Poking at the eggs a bit, Cassie finally took a bite. Then another. And finally, she was trying not to shovel them into her mouth. Sometimes when you were like Cassie, you had to eat a pretty decent amount.
"I think that's a good idea," she replied after her mouth wasn't full and she had taken a careful sip of her coffee. Cassie had loaded it up with milk and sugar. Probably more milk than anything. She had already had a little freak out on the network, but nothing else would come of it.
No one was going to come pounding on Birkhoff's door any time soon.
