Birkhoff shot a text over to Mal saying he was back to normal so she could come home whenever. He was betting she'd ended up at Evie's place but so long as no one was dead, he figured it was her business.
The coffee beans went into the machine and the whirr of the grinder filled the quiet of the apartment. Scrambled eggs were about the extent of what he could cook so he started working on those and figured she'd do what she needed to do and he'd be done just around the time she came into the kitchen.
