Who: Ian, Wanda, and John
What: Visiting Ian at the Clinic
When: Sunday
Where: Clinic
Warnings: probable talk of mental illness
Status: Closed Ongoing
It had been a week since Ian had crashed the truck into the dome. His physical injuries were feeling much better, although his arm still be in a cast for the next several weeks. Psychologically he still had a ways to go. He’d opened up to Carson about why he’d done it, what was going on with him lately and his family history.
They’d started him on mood stabilizers and antipsychotics, which he’d been taking for a few days now. So far they made him feel horrible- groggy and detached from everything. He’d been warned that it would take a few weeks for them to stabilize, and after that it might take some experimentation to find the right drugs and dosage. Ian accepted that there was something pretty serious wrong with him, but it was still hard to accept being on medication for the rest of his life. Especially if it made him feel like this. They said that the side effects would likely diminish or go away as he stabilized and got used to the drugs...but what if they didn’t? He didn’t think he could stand feeling like this for the next forty years.
But he needed to take the drugs for now, needed to give them a chance. For one thing, they were probably going to let him go in a couple days, but his release would be conditional on med compliance.
He wasn’t expecting anyone. He was just sitting and staring out the window blankly, which he’d done a lot the past few days, when he heard someone enter and looked over at the door of his room.
