"We'll take it while we can get it," Johanna said with a nod; she'd been in town too long -- and seen too much back home -- to dream of things falling quiet this easily. The more potential danger there was, the more important it was to stay aware.
"At least there are plenty of people here who know what they're doing," she said, taking a sip of her coffee. "We need every bit of that we can get."
It never, ever hurt to be prepared, and you could never be too prepared.
"How long have you been out there, anyway?" Simple conversation, nothing more, just to keep herself distracted from worrying about everybody. She could get back to that in a few minutes.
