Johanna had taken Mary's advice to heart; this was a place she knew, these were people she knew and friends of people she knew. This was something she could protect. Not that she didn't have faith in Zee's wards, but her formative years had made her too suspicious to not go with "just in case" on things like this.
She knew Zee would get it.
And she could work with any excuse to have an axe on hand, basically. Carefully held, but still. Meant she was leaning against a wall most of the time, but she made it work. Especially now, when she was drinking a cup of coffee and trying to decide if she really felt like eating something.
