Who: Sif and Lissa
What: Listening to Lissa's frustrations
When: Friday morning
Where: Lissa's apartment
Warnings: TBA
Status: Closed/On-going

Sif was grateful for the fact that her nightmares hadn't been as bad as some of the others' had been. They'd been terrible, yes. They'd been some of the worst she'd ever had. But they hadn't been so bad as to keep her from her Guardian duties. If the nightmares reached that incapacitating...

Well, if they did, she feared for the entire town.

But at the moment, she had no need to fear. What she had need of was an ability to make her charge find a house. Of course, extreme sleep deprivation was no kind of condition under which to make decisions, but it was keeping Lissa from getting even more scared than she already was, so Sif was more than happy to let Lissa sit in the living room and pour over page after page of listings online for as long as she wanted for the entirety of her shift that morning.

"You need to take a few breaths and stay calm," Sif said from where she sat in a chair, tiredly sipping at a cup of coffee. "You will never be able to make a decision if you cannot think -- even if it is just a decision about what you need to make a decision on." Anything to try getting a smile out of Lissa.

One of the things that Lissa loved about being in Madison was that with the people that knew her, she didn't need to hide or pretend. She didn't need to act like nothing was hurting her and that she was untouched. She wasn't a Queen having to lead her people. She was just herself.

Herself suffering from sleep deprivation and the fear of falling asleep, but herself, nonetheless.

At Sif's words, she looked up and smiled faintly. "Is it bad that I can't recall anything on that last page I was looking at?"

Sif had just taken a very large sip of a very strong cup of coffee, so it took her a second to reply. "Bad, yes, but not at all surprising," she said gently. "My queen, you cannot push yourself anymore. You do not have your people to take care of, but you have yourself. You have your sister. You have your friends."

Not people to lead, but people to care about, to think of, to know that they would be very upset at the minimum if anything happened to her.

Lissa sighed, rubbing her temples. "I know, I do. It's just... the past few nights have been so hard and the nightmares keep getting worse. It sometimes feels like I am right back there being tortured so that I'll agree to use my powers to help someone stave off disease and death." She frowned. "He was such a dear friend of my family and to know what he did and was willing to do..."

"I understand," Sif replied. "Loki was much the same way. Oh, I always knew he was manipulative and capricious and had the potential for cruelty, but I thought that was just... how he was. Even I never realized the depths of his... ability to hide things."

She just shook her head. "Sometimes people have an extraordinary capability to hide things, Lissa."

It was an unfortunate thing that she hated to see tearing her dear friend apart.

Lissa tilted her head. She had never met Loki but Sif had mentioned him enough that she had some knowledge of him. She didn't like that he may have hurt Sif just as much as Victor had hurt her.

"Did he torture you as well, Sif?"

Because if he had, Lissa would hunt him down.
