Who: Stephen Strange and Ariadne
When: Monday Afternoon
Where: The park
What: Dimensions and Magic
Warnings:
Status: Closed/In-Progress

After recovering his memories, Strange had been reminded of many things that had been filed away in the back of his mind. They weren't bad things, but sometimes compartmentalizing things worked better for him. He had lived his life this way for quite some time, always focusing on himself, and had done very well. It was only after he had his mind opened by the Ancient One that Strange came to see what else existed in the world.

He was not open to sharing too much about his magic with just anyone. Safe for those who knew him through the connections in their homeworld, Strange had only opened up to Scarlett Bernard and, briefly, Ariadne. Until now. Now he was inviting her to the park to welcome her into the world of multiple dimensions and perhaps even the Multiverse.

Having chosen a highly secluded area of the park, Stephen sat quietly on a bench paging through the newspaper he had picked up that morning. He was actually looking forward to showing someone the mysteries and the like who could appreciate it for what it truly was.

Ariadne was very interested in what Strange could do, but they'd both been locked in a sort of game about who'd show their hand first. He apparently was the one who was going to blink first and she was excited about that. She could worry about how to reciprocate later. For now, there was a spring her step as she made her way to the Park where they'd agreed to meet.

She had a cup of coffee in hand as she trekked over to the secluded area, already thinking about what the possibilities of what he was going to show her. It was well worth blowing off her afternoon class, though she had spent the better part of the morning on her school work. Ariadne promptly forgot about all of that as she caught sight of him on a bench, reading his newspaper.

"So, what made you change your mind?" Ariadne still was a little curious about that, but she hoped the question would get him to change his mind.

Why did he change his mind? It was hard to tell. There were certainly some adjustments in his behavior after the memory mishap, but nothing too different.

Stephen looked up at her question and grinned. "A gentle reminder surfaced." The loss of his entire life and sinking to the lowest point, embracing the many wonders that the Ancient One introduced to him, and becoming the man he now was thanks to the Ancient One, Christine, and others. Stephen had been given a second chance and he needed to be sure to make the most of it.

"A reminder not to be an ass." Because, if he was being honest, that would have been the exact words from both Christine and the Ancient One. "We're still building your staircase, correct?"

That sounded a little cryptic to her, but Ariadne was willing to go with it. She could also understand that maybe there were way he'd guarded himself from the rest of the town that he maybe hadn't needed to do. She was just glad that she would have the opportunity to see what they'd been talking about over the network for their past few interactions. He had a keen mind and she was curious about what he was capable of.

"Technically, it's not my staircase," she replied with a grin. "But yes, you made it sound like you could create one somehow. In the spirit of sharing, I too can create a penrose staircase. Just not without the aid of technology." Ariadne wasn't quite willing to explain the PASIV just yet, but the more forthcoming he was, the more she'd share in return.

"Something tells me you don't need technology though."

Strange would have never thought he would not need technology to do amazing things. He had used it nearly his entire life and career. His work had been outstanding and ground-breaking. While his work was still quite amazing now, it was not quite the same. Which made him appreciate it even more.

Taking a moment to bring himself to a focusing point, Strange created a golden circle of dimensional energy before him. In doing so, the immediate area around them began to fold, bend, and turn.

The grass bent and warped and the surrounding area held a prismatic tint to it. "Step one, the mirror dimension. Our current dimension, except held at this moment to ensure the safety of the outside world."

Ariadne watched with fascination as he moved his hands, saw the magic in the form of a golden circle that she couldn't quite comprehend. It was beautiful. The world around them distorted, bent and folded, turned in on itself in a way that reminded her a great deal of what she'd experienced when she'd first used the PASIV. Except in the PASIV, she had drawn too much attention to herself. That was the limitations of her technology, of the mind.

"This is..." she trailed off, unable to find the words. Ariadne turned to look at him. What was it with her and finding men who could literally change her world? First it had been Cobb with the PASIV, then Arthur teaching her how to create with it. Now here she was with a man named Strange and he was going to show her what he could do.

"How did you do that?"
