Ella, Max, and McCree
Ella's feelings toward Jesse were not nearly so complicated as she made them out to be. She cared for him deeply and knew that he was so wonderfully good with Maximilian. The biggest stumbling block for her at the moment was that she still wasn't entirely convinced that she should open herself up to someone else after being married to Kit. It felt a little like a betrayal, though she had to remind herself that her husband would want her to be happy.
As she saw Jesse approach with a bouquet of beautiful blue flowers, her entire face lit up in a smile. Even Max noticed the change and squirmed a little, his arms reaching for the older man. Ella felt her cheeks color just a tad at his comment because it was true, she rarely sat down for longer than a few minutes at a time when there was a party like this going on.
"Yes, well. They asked very nicely and I would not want to disappoint Grandpa," she replied. "Isn't that right, Maximilian?" Jeremy really only ever had to gently suggest something and Ella would follow his word. He only ever had her best interests at heart.
