The thing was that he really wasn't feeling all that awkward with it. It was something that happened and he was fine with it, he'd like for that unspoken thing to stop being unspoken but no matter what they were friends and family and he was okay with whatever they needed to be while she didn't want to be more.
Not that it meant they didn't fight or he didn't drive her crazy but that was kind of a family thing too.
Since he had some stuff to do for work early he'd actually been there in the kitchen for once before she left the house and he got to see the awkward stop and pause.
"Morning. Want some cereal?" It wasn't all kids cereal with marshmallows, he just had a nostalgia thing for that stuff so he tended to eat it. No one else had to be subjected to it.
