Lucas knew he couldn't be trusted with Riley's ring, but it was her ring, so he would let his dad hold onto it until he was for sure ready to propose to Riley. And if it never happened, as painful as that was to think about, it wasn't like he'd propose to someone else with it. It was Riley's, the perfect ring he could give her.
"I can give her a few days," he agreed. And hopefully, that wouldn't make it worse. Lucas flopped back on his bed and just sort of wallowed in his own self-inflicted misery. He was so wrapped up in himself and kind of adjusting to the fact that he'd completely and utterly misread the whole situation, he wasn't even paying any attention to his dad anymore.
