Bobby stepped out of the shower, and moved toward the towels and mirror. He remembered that he needed to shave and grabbed out his stuff, but when he went to look in the mirror, he spotted his reflection and let out a cry.
“Oh shitr!”
For the face of Harley Quinn, a woman he had once been friends with benefits with, stared back at him shocked, and he knew, without asking, that he wore that face. He loo0ked down and realized he had been truly out of it, still sick with a cold, when he woke, and still tired, because, yes, he was a woman, and yes, he was Harley Quinn. He had been aware that a new one had arrived, but had not been sure he should contact her.
After all, how do you explain that?
Sighing, he wrapped a towel around himself, or tried to, and realized Harley’s endowments made that nearly impossible. Oh heck. He was going to need to wrap himself in his largest clothing and go shopping. Oops?
He stepped out of the bathroom, still naked, and came nose to nose with an older red headed woman, one who looked very familiar, even as he shrieked in surprise and stumbled backward and fell on his very plump ass.

Jean awoke like everyday in Madison Valley...or so she thought. Pushing herself out of bed, the first thing she noticed was that her pajama pants were way too short and tighter around her waist than they were last night. Another thing? Her feet looked bigger. Maybe she was still dreaming or something? The red head reached out to pinch herself, but the bit of pain did nothing to shake the images in front of her. What was going on? Why did her clothes suddenly not fit her and her feet were...big? The telepath hustled to the light switch and quickly flipped it on.
“Oh...boy,” Jean said out loud, eyes large as they took in the unfamiliar face and features in the mirror. “How-” She broke off. How had she aged a few years in a single night? It was impossible and yet, here she was, looking at herself in a mysterious amount of years from now. It was crazy and that was saying a lot because she was a mutant after all. Hesitantly, she reached up and touched her face, feeling the cheek bones, staring into the eyes and know those eyes all too well. No, this was her, older yes, but it was still her...it was still Jean Grey.
Her first thought? Go to Bobby. He’d been here longer than her and would know more about the weird happenings in Madison Valley. It didn’t occur to her that Bobby might be dealing with a dilemma all his own. The redhead exited her room and made a beeline for the bathroom because she was still unconvinced that this wasn’t something a brighter light might be able to fix. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it there.
A young woman with multi-colored hair stepped out just as Jean neared the door and the two nearly collided. The woman gave a shriek and stumbled to the floor. Who the hell was this? She respected her guardian was an adult and easily could pick up any chick in town, but he could have at least let her know first.
“Uh, who are you?” Jean asked, eying the young woman curiously. “What are you doing in my house?”

Bobby blinked as he tried to cover up more of his borrowed bits with the towel. “Er, This is me, Bobby, Jean. Look in my mind, if you doubt me.” he extended his hand to her, palm up, to let her feel more closely.
His mind had its usual core, but his calm was shredded by surprise and worry, even as he watched this older version of her an was startled and worried for her. And even as he thought that, he realized she might be even more sensitive and he forced himself to calm and draw in and let himself project, once more, only care and calm, despite his worry and anxiety.
***
Jean could feel all of those emotions coming off Bobby in waves and it was overwhelming for the redhead. All of it was overwhelming on top of waking up in a body that was hers and yet not quite. Dizzy and feeling slightly sick, Jean put a hand on the wall behind her to steady herself. Jean’s emotions and his were a horrible combination. He offered her his hand, palm up and Jean took a deep breath before reaching out to touch it lightly with her finger tips.
No, he was telling the truth. It was Bobby underneath that guise of a woman. It was disturbing to say the least, but Bobby didn’t have any control in the situation. Madison Valley did things without warning. “It’s you…” Jean trailed off, pulling back slowly. “How? I don’t understand…”
***
“Madison Valley does weird things, sometimes, usually it’s one thing at a time. People will be aged up, or aged down, or change bodies, or change powers… but it looks like I changed bodies and you… aged up? So this week may have gone kaka a lot worse than normal.”
He controlled his mind finally, and took a long breath.
“Let me get some sweat pants or something on, and we can sit and talk, maybe do some of those control exercises we’ve practiced. I have a feeling we may need them before the week is out.”
***
This was the first thing that had actually effected Jean since her arrival in July. It was all a bit startling to put it mildly and she couldn’t wait till she looked in the mirror and saw her normal face again. Being older hadn’t changed much about her emotions aside from the entire event throwing her off to the point where she felt as if she could lose control for the first time a long time. “Yeah, this is just crazy…” Jean agreed, trailing off.
At the mention of practicing some of those exercises and talking, Jean nodded. “I think that would be good. I felt like I could have lost control a few minutes ago,” she admitted, looking down, a bit ashamed at the admittance. “None of my clothes fit…”
***
Bobby nodded and sighed. “Come on. It’s not your fault. These situations, they push us. Next time, you’ll be ready.” he smiled and led the way to his room, abandoning modesty, since, really, a, this was not his body, b, they were temporarily both women, and c, it seemed silly to think about it while they had bigger issues.
His calm was unbroken now as he dug for oversized clothing for them both. Sweatpants, boxer underwear from a brand new package, and sweater shirts all came out in twos, and he handed a set to her as he dressed in one himself.
“Here, get dressed, and we can go get some more clothing for us both. Enough for a week of this mess, since that is how long it usually lasts.”
***
Jean could only hope that he was right. She was scared anything could potentially trigger the Phoenix and being older made her wonder how much control she might have gained...or lost over the years. Pushing the thought away for the time being, Jean followed Bobby into his room and stripped of her pajamas in favor of sweat pants and baggy clothing. Yes, they needed to go and buy for at least a week because she was definitely not wearing his boxers for that amount of time.
“Good idea because I honestly don’t want to be wearing your boxers for a week,” Jean replied, unable to keep from joking a bit. It was unnerving to see Bobby like this, but she needed to get use to it.
***
Bobby smiled at her nodding, running a hand through his hair as he pulled out his wallet and checked to make sure everything was there. “Hah. Yeah, well, neither do I. Those are usually just for when laundry needs to be done.’ He didn’t like them, himself. He grinned at Jean.
“Come on, you. Lets go get some food and clothing and talk. And maybe see how many others are affected by this today.” he clapped a hand on Jean’s should, reaching a little more to do so, and nodded.
***
Jean attempted a smile for Bobby even if the entire situation made her feel like the gesture was inappropriate. "Okay, but it'll be weird shopping in the same section as you. Just an FYI," Jean replied, poking him playfully in the side. It was weird not feeling all that muscle that usually made Bobby up, but hopefully the entire thing would be over soon. Jean had her fingers crossed anyway.
When he touched her shoulder, Jean felt the difference in weight and finger size. Bobby's hand were bigger, but now he had hands that were more feminine like Jean's and it was weird. Still, she touched the hand in return, knowing he just wanted to offer comfort.
***
He smiled to her. “It’ll be okay, Jean. Weird, but okay.” He was calmer now, having her to concentrate on, and thinking of ways to make it better for her.
“You know we can get through anything.” Leading the way out, he smiled. They could get food and clothing, and rest, after, and talk about this.
***
“Yes, we can,” Jean replied softly, unable to keep from smiling as he led the way out the door. No, they could get through everything and Jean had to believe that. “We’ll get through this.”
***
“Yes we will.” Out to the car, and then onto the road, they went. “I have a feeling we’ll need to maintain a wardrobe off odd clothing just in case.” he rubbed his chin. “Remind me sometime this week to get us both smaller clothing, child sized, as well.” He wanted to be prepared.
***
It was weird to think that they would now need not only older and female, but now they needed child clothing too? It was weird, but Bobby was probably right. Things like this were common place in Madison Valley as disturbing as it was to think of. “Good idea. In case I end up having to change diapers or pull-ups or something,” she added.
***
Bobby took them to several clothing shops, and suffered to get himself measured in this body, and struggled with, then mastered, sort of, putting on a bra. Clothing for the bodies they were in, clothing for possible other bodies, was all bought, and finally, Bobby chuckled as he put the last of it into the trunk. He wore a simple pair of pants and boots, and a t-shirt and jacket. As he turned to Jean, he nodded.
“Ready for some food? I am about out of the ability to deal with this day, myself.”
***
It was an experience having to help Bobby figure out a bra, but at the end of all of it, they had enough clothes to weather any sort of similar craziness if it did occur after this. Jean was hoping for a break after this round of at least a month. She needed some downtime before jumping back into another random body swapping, aging event like this one. She figured Bobby would want one too.
“Yes, I’m starving,” Jean replied, her stomach growling at the thought of eating. The entire situation had her skipping breakfast and she was starving by this point. “And me too. Entirely.”
***
Soon, they were in a restaurant, and Bobby was ordering like… two meals and an appetizer. It had been a long morning, okay? Once they had both ordered, he reached out to Jean and gently squeezed her hand. “Thank you for being here., I don’t think I could deal with this without you.”
***
Jean returned the squeeze gently and nodded. “Of course, Bobby,” she assured him with a warm smile. “And hey, it goes both ways, okay? I don’t think I could have handled any of this on my own.” In fact, Jean was certain she might have destroyed some of their property with her powers if Bobby hadn’t been around to calm her down.
***
He smiled softly. “I’m always glad to be there for you, Jean. You’re an amazing person, and someone I care about, a lot.” He nodded. “And seeing yo0u grown up tells me you will be just as amazing as a grown woman.”
Jean was already turning into an amazing adult.
***
At Bobby’s kind words, Jean blushed almost the same shade as her hair. “Thanks, Bobby,” she replied softly. “It means everything coming from you.” She hoped she could live up to all of what he said when she was actually this age. “I hope I don’t disappoint you.”
***
“I know you wont, Jean. You are a good person and no matter what you do, I will be proud of you.” he hugged her gently.
“You are my friend, and I care about you, and I will always cheer you onward.”
***
Jean hugged him back. “Likewise,” she replied. “Now let’s eat.”
