There wasn't really a lot of stuff to move from the apartment to the new house, Evan had been able to pack everything he owned, clothes and all, in two boxes and his backpack. He was glad he didn't have his cast anymore, though his arm was still weak, he had no trouble carrying things out of the apartment and down to the car.
After they got everything into the house, Evan had been content to just sit on his bed in his new room, the blinds pulled up so he could just sit and look out his window. The view was perfect. Strong, perfect-for-climbing trees with a clear view of blue sky beyond. Evan didn't need anything more than that. Except he wanted to look into the idea of an emotional support animal like Adam had suggested to him. By mid afternoon, he decided he wanted to see if Turner would take him into town and to the shelter to see if he could find a cat he wanted. He was a little apprehensive about his first night in the new house, without Connor there to help him manage his anxiety. Maybe that was a lot of expectation to put on an animal, but he thought having a cat of his very own would help him a lot.
Turner had, of course agreed. Evan had spent a few minutes in front of each of the cat cages, until he came upon a three legged male with black and white fur that looked vaguely like he was wearing a tuxedo. Once he saw that one, his entire demeanor changed, and he put his hand out, reaching toward the cat. He knew instantly that was the one, the only one he wanted.
He excepted Turner to come up beside him, but the person who walked up to him was considerably shorter. He looked down and smiled a sincere smile when he saw Tia. She'd said she might be there, he was glad that she was. "I, I think I found my, my, my cat," he told her, with a gentle gesture toward the cat in the cage. He stammered slightly, but he managed to say what he wanted to say without falling short.
