Dean knew, he really did, that making such obvious and honestly genuine moves on Sara’s sister was a terrible idea. She was going to be pissed if she ever found out about it, Dean was probably going to end up telling her, but he really didn’t care right now. The people who actually mattered to him had blown him off, treated him like a nothing, and he was holding a grudge. In the grand scheme of things a few hurt feelings weren’t anything and he liked to pretend he didn’t have any to be hurt, but it was going to take a while to get over. He knew he’d regret everything a few weeks or months down the road when he wasn’t mad at them anymore and he had brand new questions about his sanity for trying, hopefully succeeding, to pick up Ruby’s face. But none of that mattered in the moment.
He’d made an offer, and she’d seriously hinted at taking him up. So when she’d said come over and check it out, he’d gone to check it out. Maybe it was self destructive, but he definitely wasn’t interested in actually seeing the apartment. He’d lived in one a long time ago, here before he’d bought the house, he knew what they looked like. He kind of knew what she looked like too, but there was something different about looking at her when he was in her body as opposed to when she was in it.
She’d invited, and so he went. Drove over and found his way up to her door, knocking twice and looking up and down the hall while he waited for her to answer the door. It was a funny thing; he didn’t really care what way this went. There was just something fun about Laurel, something he liked. They’d been bickering almost nonstop since she’d turned up, flirting in between it all, and she was just good company whether he got laid or not. He was going to keep aiming to do it though.
