WHO: Kenny and Butters WHAT: Hanging out and chatting WHEN: Before plot WHERE: Kenny's place WARNINGS: Swearing, drinking, will update if needed STATUS: Closed/Gdoc, to be continued in comments
When Kenny had came home, he found that the house was empty. He suppose everyone else was at work or school or simply had gone out. Oh well. At least he had the house to himself for a little awhile. He went into the living room and flopped on the couch, turning on Netflix. Both cats decided to join him but he wasn't really into the movie.
He wondered what Butters was doing. He'd only spoken and hung out with his friend a couple times, maybe now was a good time to hang out again. So he pulled out his phone and sent a text.
>>hey butters >>you busy?

Still stumbling around trying to get a hand on this town, Butters was still on the verge of adjusting. Sure, he had been here since Christmas, but it was still a bit jarring to wake up not where you were prior. Not to mention the whole idea that everything just continued on while you were here like you had never left was just weird. He didn’t like thinking about that at all.
He, too, was taking up residence on the sofa in his apartment watching “Lord of the Rings” for the upteenth time. Sure, it wasn’t “Back Door Sluts 9” like it had been the first time he had been promised the epic movie, but the actual movie was pretty good.
Butters liked to reenact some of the scenes at times, too.
Glancing down at his phone, he was pretty quick to respond.
*** Kenny wasn't surprised that Butters had respond quickly. He picked up his phone to text him back.
>> the real lotr movie this time? >> just wondering if you wanted to go out >> or maybe just stay in and hang out >> maybe get high
He put his phone back down, then his cat Weed starting meowing at him before jumping off the couch and heading towards the stairs. "What? You want food?" Kenny asked as he glanced over at the feline. "Alright, but your bowl better be empty." Weed had the habit of asking for food when his bowl as already full.

>>Yeah yeah. The real one this time.
It was likely that Butters would never truly live that one down. Then again, he couldn’t blame any of the guys for giving him grief for it. He probably should have known what “Lord of the Rings” actually was before then.
>> Well, yeah! Let’s hang out! >> Your place? >> I’ll bring snacks! And drinks! >> Be there in a few!
As promised, Butters arrived not too much later after his text message to Kenny with some beer and snacks in hand.
“I come with reinforcements!”
*** Once Kenny had made it to the cats' bowls, he saw that it was indeed already full of food. "Really?" he said, sighing as he looked at Weed in annoyance. But that didn't last long when he read Butters' response and laughed a bit. Nope, he (and the other guys if they were here) weren't going to let him live that down. No way.
>>alright, cool
He went back downstairs to wait, back into the living room and watching whatever movie he had been watching. It wasn't too long before he heard a knock and he went over to answer it.
"Awesome," he grinned as he helped Butters, grabbing the beer and some snacks and leading the way into the living room. He put them on the coffee table and flopped on the couch, grabbing a can of beer and opening it. He didn't usually drink but having a few with Butters didn't hurt.
"So you settling in okay?" he asked, taking a sip.

“Yeah! Going pretty good. Probably going to start looking for a job soon.” Because that chunk of cash they gave you to start with didn’t last very long. Not long at all actually. Still, he was managing. It helped that they gave them an apartment and what not.
Butters plopped down beside his friend, his own beer in hand, and tossed some popcorn into his mouth. “Still pretty damn weird, though. I mean, compared to home? You can’t touch that weirdness.” Which was true. Crazy things happened in South Park when you least expected it.
“Know good places for work?”
*** "Yeah, that money doesn't last too long, huh?" It only lasted for about a couple weeks for Kenny. Probably could've lasted a bit longer if he hadn't bought drugs, but oh well.
He grabbed a handful of the popcorn, eating some. "Hmm... depends on what you're looking for, I guess," he shrugged. "I work at the cinema, which is alright. I get free movie snacks but watching the same movie over and over again gets kinda boring after awhile." That was the one thing he didn't like about his job. But he didn't know what else to do. He wasn't really good at anything other than sex and dying. Neither of those things were skills people were hired for. At least, not in this town.
"Either way, I'll help you find a job," he offered.

“Free movie snacks isn’t something to turn away!” Because that stuff could get pricey. Sometimes more than the actual ticket itself. Butters could find free food pretty enticing, but there was probably something else out there for him.
“At least you can get me in for free, right?” Butters laughed, taking a long drink of the beer. He wasn’t one to take advantage of his friends, though. He’d pay and probably try and pay a bit more once he had the means to help them out. That was the kind of guy he was.
“Yeah! Sounds good! We can go out hunting and stuff. See where I go sowing roots and stuff.” Since it was obvious he was going to be here for a good while, which was fine. Butters could accept it.
“I could always teach tap dancing,” he commented in an off-handed manner before shuddering. “Nevermind. It still haunts me.” Even though he had taught classes in Los Angeles, for whatever reason, it was different here.
*** Yeah, the free movie snacks was definitely a bonus. And probably one of the main reasons why Kenny continued to work at the cinema.
"Of course, I can," he grinned. "I get all my friends in for free." He did that for his roommates and other people he knew. He'd do the same for Butters, but he wouldn't be surprised if Butters still paid to get in.
"Teaching tap dancing sounds... yeah, no, nevermind," he laughed as he ate more popcorn. He wasn't sure if there'd be any interest in tap dancing here anyway. "I'm sure you'll come up with something."

“I mean, I could do something with what I was going to school for. Maybe.” While Butters did enjoy what he had decided to study, this was one of those places where he could sort of reboot and start over. Kenny was really the only person who knew Butters well. He could use his strengths, but he could also just live his life. Especially without his Dad lurking around corners.
“Maybe I’ll just, like, see what’s around. Stop worrying about stuff that keeps me away from South Park since I definitely don’t see me ending up back there any time soon.” Even if he went home, he’d be going back L.A.
“Hey! I could just come work at the movies with you.”
*** "Yeah, maybe." Kenny wasn't sure though. But only because he wasn't into what Butters was studying. He didn't know if there was any opportunities for that sort of thing here. "You could always ask," he shrugged.
"You could. I can ask the boss if there's any job openings," he told him.
