WHO Gibbs + Emily Archie Andrews
WHAT Em asks for a sick day
WHERE Their place
WHEN This morning
STATUS Closed | Incomplete
Wednesday mornings weren't anything special. Gibbs liked his routines and he stuck to them every day, regardless of whether it was a work day, school day, or a day off. He was up with the sun, moving through his morning routine of a workout followed by a shower and shave. Then it was downstairs to start making breakfast for him and Emily, fresh every day. He varied it up based on what he was feeling like cooking since they both needed a good, healthy breakfast every day.
This morning, he settled on blueberry pancakes and got to work pulling the batter together. Gibbs was right on track in cooking the pancakes when he heard Emily moving around upstairs. He took a break in between batches to move to the stairs. "Hurry up, Em. Blueberry pancakes are almost done!" Then he went back to cooking breakfast for the two of them. The coffee was almost done, too.

The smell of pancakes had stirred Archie first. Sue always made the best pancakes, but he would never tell his Dad that. His Dad was a good cook, though. He could whip up some fun creations and Archie always gave him credit when it was due. When it was two guys under one roof, there usually wasn’t anything fancy, though.
The smell of coffee followed and it was going to be an excellent breakfast. The only thing that would have made it better would have been bacon.
Rolling over onto his back, Archie made a face. Something was off. Something was different. He felt lighter. His entire center of gravity just felt out of whack. Rubbing his hands on his face, Archie froze. His fingers touched against his eyelids, his nose, and his mouth.
Achie had never sat up so fast and went tumbling out of bed as he did so. Clamoring to his feet, he stared wide-eyed at his girlfriend’s reflection where his should have been. In fact, as he looked around, he was in Emily’s room and that wasn’t Sue downstairs making breakfast. That was her uncle.
“Shit, shit shit!” Stumbling toward the door, Archie cracked it just enough to respond. “Um, yeah. Okay! Be right there!”

Emily sounded a little off, but he figured that was just because she was running a little late. It wasn't enough to make him worry or suspect something was off. Gibbs just poured himself a cup of coffee and finished making the rest of the pancake batter. He waited until he was plating up the stacks for the both of them to call up the stairs to her again.
"Em! Breakfast is ready!" There was just a bit of a tone there just to get her butt moving. Ultimately, Gibbs would just let her be as late as she wanted to breakfast, but she'd absolutely be out the door for the bus to take her to school. She didn't often miss breakfast but he didn't exactly know a lot about teenage girls' habits. He just wouldn't ask and she wouldn't tell. He sat down with his cup of coffee and dug into his pancakes.

Okay. He could do this. Maybe.
Archie paused for a moment and took a breath. Getting dressed was going to be the challenge. He could match an outfit without any problem. Everything else? Accessories and hair styles and the like? Nope. Getting dressed would also mean stripping down some clothing and seeing certain parts of Emily that Archie hadn’t seen yet.
That was awkward. What was he supposed to do? More importantly, if he was in Emily’s body, then who was in his? Was this one of the dome’s crazy pranks or something? Maybe he could get out of going to school. Say he wasn’t feeling well, or that Emily wasn’t feeling well.
It was worth a shot.
“Um, Uncle Gibbs? I’m...I’m not really feeling well. Do you think I could, uh, take a day?”

Gibbs swallowed the bite of pancakes and set his fork down when he heard Em call down the stairs. She definitely sounded off but he wasn't so sure she was sick. He got up from the table and went to the foot of the stairs and considered her question. Emily wasn't the sort to beg off school unless she was really sick, so he had half a mind to agree. But she was being weird about it and after a moment, it clicked. She must have gotten her period.
"Sure, Em. Let me bring up some breakfast for you though. You should eat." He didn't wait for a response, just headed to the kitchen to gather up a plate for her. Poor thing. Gibbs remembered all too well how Shannon had been on the first day of her period, so he'd do what he could to make it better for Emily. With some skill, he balanced a plate with four pancakes and a napkin with a knife and fork in one hand while the other held a glass of milk. Better that than coffee, probably. He walked up the stairs and knocked on her door.
"Got a stack of pancakes for you, and a nice cold glass of milk." That would help, right?

Letting out a breath of relief, Archie had a few minutes to try and collect himself. Collecting Emily’s phone was the first thing on his list. He would have to message Emily, Sue, his Dad, and Jughead. Of course, that meant he’d have to be able to get into Emily’s phone, and then he’d have access to everything inside.
That could be both good and bad. What if he saw something that wasn’t meant for him?
Hurrying over to Emily’s bed, Archie made sure to sink deep under the blankets. He considered telling Gibbs. He would understand, right? They all knew about the strange things that happened under the Dome. Whether they had witnessed it firsthand or not, they had been warned.
What Archie didn’t want to get into were the possibilities of awkward conversation and questions regarding him being in Emily’s body thus being able to see certain things that he was certain Gibbs didn’t want some teenage boy seeing.
“Oh! Hey! Um, come in?”

Once he got the go ahead, GIbbs opened the bedroom door and carefully brought everything into her room. She definitely looked off, but not so off that he thought she was getting sick or something. That further solidified his assumption that it was her time of the month, especially since Emily wasn't the sort to fake being sick. He gave her an encouraging smile and set the plate down on her nightstand.
"Alright, one stack of pancakes and a glass of milk. Can I get you anything else?" Gibbs loved Emily, that much was obvious. He was gentler and more relaxed around her, open with his expression in a way that he just wasn't with anyone else or in public. He reached up to put his hand on her forehead, just to make sure she didn't have a fever or anything.
