Lenalee was dressed, uh, well, like she always was - short skirt, knee high boots, and her jacket overtop, her long hair was bound in braid, and she was moving through town like she owned the place. She was headed into the local market, not walmart because that place had terrified her, but something smaller and less overcrowded. She grinned a little and kicked up her dark boots, moving around people at a much faster pace than humanly possible. Normally. Anyway. She slid to a stop outside the door, kicking up a tiny bit of snow as the wings on her boots furled close. This place wasn’t too bad if you ignore the fact she was alone and hadn’t made friends yet. “Oops. Sorry.” She apologized as she turned right into someone. *** Allanon was walking, considering some lists of items he had picked up and some he still needed to pick up, and not exactly paying the most attention. He wore a black t-shirt and jeans, form fitting, and boots. He peered down at one thing on the liste and nodded, then looked up and almost hit someone. He shook his head, voice robbed of sound as he stared. “Ah… no mind. I mean… nevermind. It’s alright.” His voice was a little hoarse as he spoke. “Lenalee, yes? From the network? I’m Allanon. We spoke briefly.” *** She looked him over then nodded. “Lenalee, yes that's right. Oh, Allanon! I remember you. How are you?” Because the awkwardness of her looking like mareth didn't ever occur to her yet. Her brow furrowed.”do you need tea or coffee you look dazed.” Concern etched in her voice as she looked at him. **** “Hmm? I am fine, but tea might be good. It is a cold day.” he chuckled. He was not bothered by it, but maybe some tea and sitting would get his mind working right. This was not his daughter, he knew, and his daughter did not dress like that, or talk like that. But it was uncanny. “How have you been?” *** She offered him a warm smile, she was friendly, if fierce and antsy. “Since I almost ran you over, let me buy you a cup.” Lenalee was headstrong, if nothing else, and she rarely took no for an answer. By which, she practically marched him over to the cafe to do just what she said. Lenalee was used to taking care of people. Or stuffing them with food. Whichever was more convenient. “Oh, I’m getting by. This is kind of like home but not, it’s all a little awkward to be honest.” she shrugged a little. “A little lonely too, if we’re being honest.” she plunked down at a table and waved a hand to order. Forceful this one was. *** Allanon let himself be dragged along. It gave him time to recover and to get his wits about himself. This woman was not his daughter, no matter how she might look like her. By the time he was seated and she was too and waving her hand, he was grinning. “Well, then you should know you have one more friend, now.” He smiled to her. “I don’t know much about this place, as I spend most of my time out, working on my new land, but I do know how lonely it can be, even with someone from home here.” He smiled and ordered as the waitress came by, handing over his card before lenalee had a chance to. “My treat.” *** “You know that's not how that's supposed to go right? I run into you, I offer tea, generally that means I pay for it?” She gave him a look that could stop her brother in his tracks - firm, one brow raised, lips pursed. “You have someone from home? That's really lucking out. I just have me, which isn't bad, I'm just used to my brother and teammates being around. I can't actually think of the last time I was on my own.” She could and the dark look that crossed her eyes was proof of that, but she wasn't volunteering that information. She didn't even like thinking of it back home. **** “I know. But I tend to never play by the rules. Its a thing.” Allanon smirked, his lip curling lopsidedly on one side, eyes dancing with amusement. He liked that look and was amused by seeing it in the face of someone who looked so much like his daughter. This was odd. “I do. Maybe others will come through. The Dome does that, sometimes. It is weird about when, and who, and what point in time they come from, but it does, do it.” He smiled, shaking his head. “Well, you don’t have to be alone, here. Maybe you’ll make new friends, new family.” He nodded. *** Lenalee laughed softly, “Well then. Aren’t you just the rebel.” she smirked as she ordered her tea and leaned back to look at him, legs crossing under the table, heels clicking against the chair. “We’ll see. It would be nice to have one of my friends here but if not, I will manage.” she always did, Lenalee was nothing if not resourceful. It just took her a bit to get settled and sort it all out. Now that she’d figured out the differences, anyways. “Well, I should hope so. Being alone and friendless is a terribly boring existence.” she smirked a bit. “And not really my style.” *** Allanon chuckled, and shrugged. “Shhhh. Its a secret.” He arched an eyebrow at her as she sat back and looked at him, curious at her thoughts, but not dipping in. He had learned to avoid that here. It was not always wise. “Then you have one to start your collection with.” he offered her his hand. “What do you like to do, when not in an alien town?” *** Lenalee rolled her ankle lazily, she had only recently gotten the Innocence at this stage and it still felt weird. She willed them back to just regular shoes, a whisper of power skating across his senses as she did so, they went from knee high boots to heels with cross shapes embedded in her ankles at the front. “I’m good with secrets.” She paused before she reached out to take the offered hand. “You make it sound like I’m going to horde them like gold.” she smirked. “Uh. Train mostly. And kill Akuma. Demons, I guess, is probably the closest term here. And cook, that’s probably my main non-fighting hobby.” she laughed a little “I know it sounds pretty sad, but I was raised for a purpose, and we didn’t get a lot of downtime.” *** Allanon cocked his head as he felt the magic flux around her, and he grinned, and tapped the table, Air fluttering the napkins and rearranging them to make a small house, then collapsing into an ordered pile again. “As am I.” He shook her hand and smirked. “Does a dragon not hoard things?” He arched an eyebrow as he asked it, grinning at her. She felt a little like a dragon. “We have that in common. I killed demons a lot back home, and trolls. And train a lot here.” He chuckled. “Cooking? That’ll get you invited to parties often.” He smiled a little, listening to her. “That is something a lot of us face here. Learning new purposes to our lives.” *** “That is an interesting trick.” she commented lazily as she watched the house of napkins fall apart into a nice pile, a brow arched upwards at him. “Well, isn’t that good to know?” she teased then laughed. “A dragon am I?” she was innocence. Innocence, mostly. Goodness. Not really, she was only good enough for her Innocence, and she’d had to fight to get there. “Mm. I suppose dragons hoard things.” “What is a troll?” she asked with her brow furrowed, that was a word she didn’t know. “I tended to be the one who fed the team, none of the others could cook worth a damn. Or make coffee to save their own hides.” she snickered softly. “Yeah, it’s an interesting concept. I’m not even sure where to start.” *** “Magis tends to be composed of such things. Just need to find the useful ones.” He grinned at her, and chuckled, smirking, not fooled at the innocence, Not at all. He canted his head to the side and nodded. “They do.” “A mutated form of human that is beastial, savage, and ruled by primitive and inhumans drives.” He spoke it simply. He hmmed again. “Perhaps take this time to wander the town, explore what you see, find new things to try and learn what you like. For example, do you know ice cream? Archery? Amusement park rides?” *** “We had no such abilities.” she said lightly as she lifted a brow at him. Okay, so she was rather devious in her own way. She brushed her hair back and laughed softly. “Perhaps I am a bit of a hoarder.” “Sounds like something I would happily kill.” she said easily as she nodded as their drinks were brought over. “And gross, actually. They sound utterly gross.” she wrinkled her nose at him. “I know ice cream and I’ve never done archery, though I know of it. And we had no such things as amusement parks, though I don’t know what that is?” she wrinkled her nose again. *** Allanon raised a doubting eyebrow but kept his peace on that. He watched her, and nodded. She reminded him of some others he knew. “Nothing wrong with that.” “They are, in fact, gross, yes. Most other races try to avoid them as much as possible. Thankfully, it is not as hard as it might be.” They had been weeded down a lot. “It’s a park devoted to play, with games and rides, where one can go on them and just enjoy one’s self.” he chuckled. “I’d never heard of it either until I came here.” *** They had gifts, yes, but no real basic magic. Each had a specialty, of sorts. It was vastly different, and while in some ways simpler, on others more complicated. “I see. Akuma are the biggest threat, there are them, Accomodaters like me and regular humans. Very little else, though each accommodater is different,.” “How interesting. I'm sure they must exist back home, my world is similar enough, I've just never heard of such a thing. Hmm.” *** “We have many races in the Four Lands. It is a sometimes warbound, sometimes peaceful, place.” He watched her curiously. She seemed an odd woman, and different. “It is possible. In my time, they, like so much, do not exist. I come from a, well, what would currently called a post-apocalyptic time.” He chuckled. “Many thousands of years into the future.” *** Lenalee tapped her toes lightly, not one for sitting idle very long. She was the type to be on the move almost constantly. She smiled at him, watching him as much as he watched her. “Interesting. I think it is much like here, or anywhere, peace is rarely lasting.” “I can't really say where home would fall, if we would be future or past, I've yet to find a good indicator of which it might be.” A shrug as she brushed her hair back. ** *** Allanon nodded, listening, watching her and smiled. “Do you ever spar with anyone here?” He was curious, and she seemed restless. And he did like sparring. A lot. And this would be odd, but sparring with her might be interesting, if he could get over how much she looked like his daughter. ***. “I haven’t yet, no.” she shook her head a bit. “I’m a little worried about accidentally hurting someone if I do.” she smiled a bit as she shook her head. She was restless. And she liked sparring. And moving. Period. “I don’t have perfect control of my Innocence yet, I sometimes hit a little hard.” a little hard? She can put holes in roadways. Craters even. *** “I’d be interested in sparring with you. I’m good at… avoiding damage.” With Earthpower, he could take hits others could not. “And perhaps I can help. I am also a trainer.” He was not sure he was doing the right thing. But why not try? *** She lifted a brow, “if you're sure, I wouldn't want to hurt you any.” Lena smiled, bright and cheerful.. “You are, huh? Well, it can't hurt, much.” She grinned a bit, then finished her tea. “It could be good for me.I hate being lazy.” *** “Sounds like a plan. Maybe tomorrow?” He nodded, thinking, and speaking as he did. “Have you found a job yet?” He had an idea, actually. It might just help her. *** “I have a wide open schedule.” She said with a light laugh, she hadn't gotten very far yet, just settled and venturing out. She'd decided she hated the TV, and had spent most of her time wandering. “No, I haven't. Kind of trying to figure out what skills I have that translate well. I don't know you very well but you have a look that says you're thinking.” *** “Courier. What about a courier? A small town like this, cut off from the outside, probably needs people to run documents from place to place. You might be able to make a living that way.” There was a lot of ground under the dome, despite how it seemed sometimes. A lot of ground that would need to be covered a lot every day. *** She'd done similar things when she was a branch exec, running things all over because it was easier than getting someone else to do it. “That might work.” She said after a moment of thought. “Just maybe something that'll bide my time..”this place is bigger than it looks” *** Allanon nodded. “It is. And eventually, you may find a better job, one that suits you more.” He smiled at her. “And in the meantime, you’ll have money and thing to do when you’re not kicking my ass.” *** Lenalee smirked at him. “Money is good, this place is expensive.” She made a face, because home seemed so much cheaper. Things were expensive but not really in the same way. “Yeah,I will probably kick your ass a bit. I'll apologize now, hopefully I won't actually hurt you any.” ** Allanon smirked. “I may surprise you. We’ll see.” He nodded. “Alternatively, you could ask if the training terrain center needs help. They have a whole place designed for people to train and work through obstacle courses.” *** “We’ll see, I suppose.” she smiled a bit “I’ll look into both options and see what would fit me best.” she smiled warmly. “I should get going, though, I was going grocery shopping when I ran into you.” Lenalee stretched. “It was good to meet you and we will certainly have to spar asap!” *** “It was nice meeting you. And definitely. Let me know on the network.” Allanon smiled softly. He rose as well, and nodded. “Good luck.” **** Lenalee smiled, then bowed her head. “A true pleasure, sir” she pushed out of her seat, stepped back outside, called up her Innocence, the boots snaking back up her legs. Then she kicked off the ground to head back out, flying because walking was boring. ** |
