He blinked and stared as she laughed. Hard. Okay so that was definitely not what he would expect from a drop off or hand off or whatever they were called. Because, obviously why would he know what they were called. He was a good boy. A good Jewish boy who was definitely praying to God that he wasn't about to get slashed in some back alleyway now. But she was laughing and it wasn't the evil, overlord, doom laugh either. Like actual, joyous laughter.
Then she was speaking and he opened the folder when she told him to. There were some papers, and a smart phone, and some plastic that definitely looked like a credit card. Maybe a prepaid credit card. Yeah, none of this did anything to ease his worry that something shady was going on.
What did catch his attention was that she said he'd been pulled into a town. A town in Indiana and that it was...
"Acascuse me?! How is it January... I was just in New York City and it was definitely April 20th... or 18th... or 19th... well it doesn't matter but it's April. Not January."
She assured him there were no drugs. She promised and he felt a little inclined to believe her. She sounded like she meant what she said but shady people were good at what they did or they wouldn't be so... shady. No one was going to beat him up though, that was good. But he'd said kill... she didn't say anything about a big guy killing him.
"Okay then... so if this isn't a... hand off... what's going on? What do you mean I was pulled into the town? How... what... why..." Good, Benji. Show her you still know your 5W's. That'll impress her. "Uh...I'm Benji Applebaum. Pleased to meet you. Can I just tell you... I have no idea what the heck is going on! One minute I was showing my best friend a magic trick and the next I'm here... so not only did I teleport but I also traveled back in time?!"
