Ere arrived home after the snow angel thing covered in snow. The ride back to their home was cold, with snow falling on her as she put the horse away. She was in a good mood, having had fun with Kenny and Wes, now she grinned.
“ALLANON!” She called out as she came out of the barn. She rolled a handful of snow up into one hand, hiding it behind her back. “Did you have a good day??”
***
Allanon was sitting atop a stone pillar, and smirked down at her. “I did. Did you have fun in the snow?” he had replied to the same post she had, and seen her intent to go, and then seen her go. So he knew where she had been, and he could guess at her current spirit.
***
She grinned, “I did have fun. It was a good afternoon.” She judged the distance, then let the snow fly. She didn't think she'd hit him but she was on the move even as the snowball left her hand.
,***
“Good! I think you want to have more fun, huh?”
Allanon laughed as he swept wind up to bounce the snowball back, angling it to aim after her as she moved. Then he swept his other arm up and over and a rain of snow shot toward her, spinning together into multiple snowballs as it did so.
“Did you think I had never played this game?”
*** She took the snow to the back as rolled, already moving to get up to his height, he had that advantage at the moment. She squeaked as he sent multiples in her way as she scrambled up and onto a rock pile.
“Well actually, yeah, I mean you're pretty curmudgeonly” she balanced on her toes as she resorted to more physical methods of throwing snow, catching one to only be pelted by the rest.
***
Allanon rolled from his perch, dropping and out of the way, slipping into the snow quietly, vanishing under it like a snake. He slid quietly through it and chuckled as she said that. His voice, when he spoke again, echoed from the snow all around.
“I, too, was once a boy, Eretria…”
And he burst up from the snow next to the rock pile, hands lifting two snowballs to throw at her from above.
***
Ere lived dangerously. Which is why she turned to face him then pushed off the rock. There was snow beyond him, so instead of just taking it to the face, she went to tackle him into the snow pile.
“Are you sure? I thought you were always old.” She was laughing as she moved.
*** *** Allanon was glad she tackled him as he stuffed the snowballs down the back of her clothing, then grabbed her and tumbled with her into the snow, wiggling and running his hands over her for grips and for purchase, his body far warmer, fueled by the Earthpower.
***
Ere made undignified noises as the snow was squished against her skin. She merely returned the favor, stuffing snow wherever her hands could as the tumbled down the drift. He was warmer, which only made the snow on her back melt into cold trails faster
“Not fair!” She squeaked as she fought to stuff him in the snow.
**
Allanon laughed as they tumbled and pressed snow into each other’s clothing. He snickered at her words and then smirked as the snow picked them up in a big hand and tossed them,m ala snowball style, into the pond near their makeshift home.
Allanon let himself sink deep letting the cold sink into him and then kicking off the bottom.
*** Eretria yelped as the snow tossed them into the water. She flailed for a minute as she sank then pushed up, teeth chattering. She liked the cold, and was finding it a lot easier to deal with but
He dumped them in the pond! Ere pulled together some semblance of focus and as he surfaced hit him with a mini wall of water, the effort leaving her panting but grinning.
***
Allanon and smirked at her, and clapped. “Well done!” he swam to her and hugged her, his warmth radiating to chase the cold away across the pond. “What say we get dry and do more in awhile? I have stew on.”
He chuckled as he started for the side of the pond. The water was almost hot tub temperature now. But the air was cold, even so, not good for her, for long.
***
She let him wrap her up in a hug, shivering even with his warmth wasn't enough to stop her teeth from chattering. She was getting there but not yet. “Yes please, I'm freezing. I'm getting better though.”
She grinned at him. “I can't believe you threw is in the pond!” Her hair was icing even as they moved. “Such a brat”
***
***
He laughed and kept them moving toward the cave house.
“I learn from the best. I wish you could have known Bremen. He made me look well-behaved.” he chuckled as he walked with her, pouring heat into her and the air, as he did so, the snow melting around them.
Inside, it was warmer, since he had erected hangings and the fireplace. The smell of beef stew wafted around them as well.
***
Ere shook off her damp hair and stretched. “I wish that too. All I know of you is stoic curmudgeon, before here, knowing you weren't always so is so fascinating.”
She groaned at the smell of stew before stripping out of wet clothes to put on warm, dry ones. “Mmmmm stew” she liked what they've done with the place so far. It felt like home.
***
Allanon nodded, grinning at her, and shrugged. “I am what I am.” he moved to grab new clothes himself and stripped, cleaned, and slid into the warm ones, throwing the old ones into the hamper for later.
“It should be ready now. We can sit in front of the fire, eat it, and you can tell me your battle tales.” he winked at her, chuckling.
