Newt may have inwardly freaked out at the touch to his shoulder. Just a little. He couldn't help it. Being a teenager and attracted to his own sex, he supposed it would be the same for anyone else with someone they were mildly attracted to. The sensation left as soon as it came and he was able to move on, focusing instead on far more important things, such as the person that was training him as he went about training him.
He was excited and pleased that this guy who hardly knew him seemed to already know that Newt would do a good job. Just having someone else have that level of confidence in him went a long way in helping Newt feel secure in what he was doing. He nodded when Sam explained that all he needed to do at the moment was watch and learn. Newt knew all about that from back in the Glade. It was a staple in any new job. A person learned best from doing, yes, but one couldn't do without first seeing how it was done.
"Thanks, mate," he said, probably for the hundreth time. He meant it too, just as he had any of the other times he'd said it that day.
