WHO: Kenny McCormick and Nina Lehnsherr (Match-up)
WHAT: Kenny teaches Nina some bad words
WHEN: This morning
WHERE: Hinkles
WARNINGS: Language
STATUS: Closed/Match-up/Completed
Kenny had finally gotten done work and could now head home. But first he wanted to get something to eat real quick. He had snacked all day but movie snacks weren't very filling. Not even a batch of nachos could make his hunger go away completely. Usually he'd grab something during his lunch break but he had decided to skip lunch, which he obviously ended up regretting.
He's stopped by Hinkles to get a burger, fries, and coke before getting it to go. He was so hungry that he started munching on the fries as he headed home as he couldn't wait any longer. Suddenly a little puppy came running up to him. It was obvious it had escaped it's owner as there was a leash attached to the collar.
"Uh, hey," he said. Then he glanced up and saw who he guessed was the owner. It was a little girl and he groaned inwardly. He didn't like kids. He thought they were annoying and bratty little shitheads. But she hadn't done anything, so he was going to be nice unless she annoyed him. "I'm guessing this is yours," he said, nodding to the puppy.

Nina stopped before the boy and put her hands on her hips angrily. She’d told Flower not to run away! Little puppies didn’t understand how important it was to stay with their owners and stay away from traffic and all the things that could hurt them! She was fuming as she finally caught up to the dog and hooked its leash back on.
“I told you I’d let you off the leash but only if you stay with me,” she said, addressing the dog in a way that said she at least thought she was talking to it on the same level you’d talk to a person. Then she looked up at Kenny.
“I’m sorry. He’s still learning.”
***
Kenny just raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. He just figured the little girl had a big imagination. He and his friends did when they were younger. They played superheroes and knights and princesses and all that shit, creating their own little worlds which they immersed themselves in. Maybe this girl thought the dog could talk or something.
"It's okay. He's kinda cute. What's his name?"
***
The dog could talk. And it wasn’t just the dog. It was Flower. And Flower was usually a good dog except when he got outside and really, really, really, really wanted to run. Like now.
“Flower,” she said. “And he’s really cute except when he doesn’t do what he’s told.”
And he didn’t have any excuses. Nina knew that he could understand her so if he wasn’t doing what she asked then he was just being a brat. That’s all there was to it.
“What’s your name?”
***
"Flower, huh? Cool name," he commented. "And yeah, puppies are like that." Maybe after some training, the little guy will do as he's told. Kenny guessed she just got him, maybe for Christmas or something.
"I'm Kenny," he said. "What's your name?"
***
“He chose it. He says he likes flowers and they taste good, although I’ve been telling him that eating flowers is just going to make him sick. I don’t think he likes to listen to me very much. But he has to because I really just want to take care of him and make sure that he doesn’t get sick or hurt.
So why wouldn’t he listen to her? It didn’t make sense to Nina.
“Nina Lehnsherr,” she said. “And I’m not really supposed to talk to strangers.”
It was a little late for that, though.
***
"He told you that? Like actually told you?" he asked. He wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. People here had all sorts of abilities. Even he did himself.
"Uh, no, don't think you are." His parents never told him that but he was pretty sure that was some rule other parents told their kids.
***
“Of course he did. In doggie words.” Which to her sounded pretty much the same as regular words. But older people didn’t get that, not even daddy.
“And you’re a stranger. But I don’t think you’re mean. And anyway, I think my daddy would do bad things to you if you hurt me.”
***
"Right, doggie words." Whatever the hell that meant. "Okay, that's fucking cool, I guess.
He shook his head. "No, I'm not mean." Unless you hurt someone he cared for, then all bets were off. But he highly doubted this little brat would do anything. "And why would I hurt you?"
***
“You said a bad word!” She said, giving him a really judgmental little kid look. “And I’m only six.” As if that made it worse somehow. Well, people did say that swearing around little kids was a really bad thing, although Nina honestly wasn’t sure why exactly. It wasn’t like she was going to repeat it to her daddy or something.
“I should tell my daddy.”
He didn’t have to know she wouldn’t, though.
***
"Huh? No I didn't." Did he? Kenny wasn't sure nor did he care how old she was. He went back, going over their conversation from the start until just now. It took him a moment to realize what she meant.
"Oh, you mean fuck," he said. “That’s not so bad,” he shrugged.
***
Nina gasped again.
“Yes it is bad! It’s the baddest bad word of them all!” She knew that daddy wouldn’t want her saying it, or hearing it, or anything like that. “You’re not supposed to say that around little kids. It’s bad.”
She wasn’t going to tell on him or anything, but she was going to let him know what she thought of that.
***
Kenny just sort of shrugged when she gasped. "Really? I think cunt is worse," he said. He had said and heard 'fuck' a lot, but he didn't really hear 'cunt' being used as often. He had a really vulgar mouth but even he didn't say that much, unless he was angry.
"I didn't know. I've been saying bad words since I was your age." Probably even younger. He wouldn't be surprised if his first word was a curse word.
***
Nina had never heard that one before, so she didn’t really know if it was worse or not. She knew that ‘fuck’ was bad, though. And she’d never say it. Never never never. She didn’t want to get in trouble.
“You should talk nicer.”
But when she thought about it, she wasn’t really sure why. How could words be bad? They were just words. It wasn’t like you were hitting someone or something.
***
"Huh? I am talking nice."
Uh, wasn't he? It wasn't like he'd insulted her using swear words or anything like that. In fact, he was pretty sure he did the opposite. He said her ability to understand her dog was fucking cool. It was a compliment as far as he was concerned.
***
“Nuh uh,” she said. “You’re using bad words.” But she was getting bored of that argument. She didn’t really care if he was using bad words, she just knew he wasn’t supposed to and was pointing that out. Just in case he didn’t know. Even if he was pretty sure she did.
“Maybe I could use those words and let Daddy hear and then tell him you told them to me.”
***
"But I didn't say it in a mean or insulting way," he said. But whatever. Little kids here always seem to think swearing was a bad thing, no matter what. He never saw it was bad but to each their own, he guessed.
He shrugged. "Go ahead." He didn't really care either way. If she didn't hear them from him, she'd probably hear them from someone else. Or possibly from a movie or something. There was always some way kids could hear bad words.
***
Nina was pretty sure he was a bad kid. He probably did other bad things too, things she didn’t even know about. Daddy probably wouldn’t want her spending time near him. But that was okay. She didn’t like him that much and she was pretty sure he wasn’t going to be one of her friends.
“I’m going to take Flower home now.”
***
Kenny shrugged, not really caring what this little brat did. To be honest, he was surprised he'd spoken to her for this long.
"Alright, later," he said and waved as he walked off.
