Life with a toddler was definitely a challenge, Sonia could attest to that. With her now two year old daughter, who always kept her on her toes. But Sonia knew that she could deal with Natalia. And today, they needed to get groceries.

So, they went to Walmart. Sonja chose to that Natalia walk beside her, instead of sitting in the shopping cart. Up and down the aisles of the grocery store they went, getting the items they needed. And while her mom was distracted, Natalia saw a new face. One that she hadn’t seen before, one that intrigued her. And she decided that she would introduce herself to him.

She walked up to Arthur and gave him a smile before speaking. “Hello,” she told him, hoping that would be enough to get his attention.

Arthur had a bit of a soft spot for kids. Well, kids who weren't his and Ariadne's random triplets that showed up in Madison Valley for about a week last spring. Or Joey, the kid who looked like Arthur himself when he'd been a child. That was probably even weirder than having triplets of his own, the fact someone else in town had a kid who was clearly Arthur's doppleganger.

Aside from the triplets and Joey, Arthur actually liked kids. And so he'd made a face at the little one walking beside her mother. Which prompted the girl to say hello to him. He glanced at the young woman with the child, assuming she was the little girl's mother. Hopefully she wouldn't mind Arthur stooping down to say hello.

"Hello yourself, little one," he said to her as he knelt to herlevel.

	"I'm Natalia," she said, with a grin, glad that she got his attention, "what's your name?" For a two year old, curiosity was definitely what killed the cat as Sonja rushed up to catch up with her daughter. "Sorry about that. She's always interested in talking to new people." "Natalia is a very pretty name for a very pretty little girl," Arthur told her. "My name is Arthur," he said with a grin. He liked kids because they weren't his responsibility. They were full of crazy antics and sometimes they said really amazing things. And at the end of the day, Arthur didn't have to deal with screaming fits or bedtime avoidance.

He looked up at the woman, his eyes bright and kind. "It's all right. I don't mind. She's adorable," he said, and shifted his focus back to Natalia. "You're adorable, you know that? I bet everyone tells you so"

"It really is, it's nice to meet you Arthur," Natalia told him, still smiling, even if she had unintentionally mispronounced his name. Though she was two, so people were more willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Sonja smiled, relieved, glad that Arthur didn't seem annoyed by her inquisitive two year old daughter. "They do, yes. That and I turned two on Christmas Eve," Natalia added, holding two fingers up for added emphasis.

"Of course," Arthur nodded. "I don't have any. Just a dog. Which is hardly the same thing." Except he kind of treated Pinto like a child sometimes. He couldn't help it. The dog was a link to Jesse, and he missed Jesse terribly.

"Well, I had triplets show up, last year, when the random kids invaded. That pretty much guarantees Ariadne and I won't have kids anytime soon." Because holy shit, if triplets were even a remote possibility...they were nowhere near ready for that.

"Animals are sort of like fur babies or so I've heard people say," Sonja told him, but she didn't mention how animals didn't really like Dhampirs. No need to mention that.

"She's just the only one I've had, from some jerk back home who wanted nothing to do with her. And the same guy who tried who tried to seduce my sister, too," Sonja added with a shrug, "then again, she was unplanned, and I couldn't imagine life without her."

"I guess we kind of treat him like that He was actually Jesse's and when Jesse got ssent home, Pinto came and found me. I'd never had a dog, or any pets before, but I couldn't turn him away." Arthur shrugged. he'd grown terribly fond of Pinto.

"That's harsh. My dad was like that. Dumped my mother like a hot potato when she told him about me. Then seduced her best friend." He could relate, a little too well to her story. "But it looks like she's got a good mom with you, so that's a plus." He hadn't been so lucky. His mother had been a drug and drink addicted slut

"I can't blame you," Sonja told him with a smile. "Some people are just unfit to be parents." Then again, she thought Natalia's father was a cold hearted bastard, if you asked her. But she realized that time was getting away from everything.

"Though I better let you finish shopping", she said as she scooped up her daughter, so she was on eye level with Arthur. " Can you wave goodbye to the nice man?"

Which Natalia was more than happy to oblige
