She was worried she might've pushed him too much or crossed a line, but then he relaxed and snaked his arm around her back. Turner just adjusted how she held him so that he was comfortable as he cried. He'd clearly needed it, had been holding all of that in probably since he'd gotten called to the principal's office. Her heart went out to him because no one should ever have to feel that much pain. It was the kind of pain she couldn't immediately fix, but she would do her best to help him. For now, she thought that included just continuing to reassure him that she was right here, that she had him, that she was going to help him and Connor, that she heard him, that she'd do whatever she could to make sure they were both safe.
Turner didn't pull away, even when he took in a shaky breath and she thought he had mostly run out of tears. Instead, she just held him closer until he physically made the move to pull away. She didn't want to risk him feeling like she was annoyed or something even if all she did was move to get him tissues. "Hey, I promise you, Evan, I'll do everything I can to help you and Connor." She'd said it a good bit, but she wanted to make sure he really understood it.
