Who: Lisa Snart & Open What: Drinking Where: Lou's When: Wednesday Night Rating: TBD Status: Open; Incomplete
Despite the obvious, rather suffocating holiday spirit in the air, Lisa found herself feeling rather melancholy that night. Most of it revolved around the fact that she didn't ever experience holiday cheer, but rather it remained another day in the Snart household. It was rare they received gifts even on Christmas and the only thing that could be guaranteed was the potential for being punched or hit. There was always the lovely addition of verbal abuse too because you couldn't just fell horrible physically. It had to consume your whole state of being in the end. Despite her brother's attempts to protect her, she still received a good portion of both and her memories of Christmas were not laced with joy, but rather sadness and a sense of agony. There was never a sense of joy in the household, not even when their father finally ended up in jail and the abuse stopped. There was no celebration because they were still struggling, still fighting to survive and while it was not their father, it was something worse...nature itself.
Needless to say, Lisa was not feeling the "Christmas spirit". The light show in the woods had been somewhat magical, but even something as beautiful as that was lost upon Snart's baby sister. She'd come to consider beauty with a golden sheen and anything else did not seem to live up to it. Happiness came from money, wealth, and power. It did not come from kindness or love. Being the daughter of the thief and the sister of one, she learned you were always better off with the green than a rather large, caring heart. In Lisa's case, she preferred gold, but they all equaled the same thing: rich. Even during the holidays, Lisa was consumed with superficial objects and things rather than the meaningful stuff other people loved about the holiday. Again, she linked it back to the fact that love was difficult, if not impossible to come by in their household and with that, she did not know how to love. Her only true affection ever lay with her brother, Leonard Snart. Cisco might have held a bit of it at some point, but finding out he had a girlfriend bothered the Golden Glider more than she let out. Oh, it was not that she was ever at a shortage of potential men, but she was at a shortage when it came to the good ones a lot of the time.
Arriving at the bar, Lisa claimed a stool and ordered herself a martini. Part of her wished she'd asked her brother to join her, but no doubt he was off coming up with some brilliant plan to rob the city blind. Well, if he was, she hoped he let her in on it at least. Her drink arrived in record time and Lisa sent a few bills careening across the counter in the bartender's direction. Taking a sip, she suddenly realized just how alone she actually was. Outside of Lenny, she did not have anyone else and that was fine. Friendship was just another source of weakness they couldn't afford. Still, did she sometimes wonder what if would be like to have friends? To trust? Maybe, but no. No, she didn't. Ever. Her brother and wealth were the only things she needed in the world. Everything else was pointless.
